In my first recording, I was told that my volume was hovering around 80 dB and that it needed to be turned up to around 89 dB. Where can i physically see that my recording is on Avg, 89 dB? Where does audacity produce that number? Thank you for your time

No one is more amazed than I am. 10 years?!..wow. I am always meaning to clean out the old ones and make newer ones but never get around to it.

@toyghgh use the "view" dropdown menu; at the bottom is 'toolbars' and you can choose which of them to show or not show. probably your level meters have been unchecked for some reason

Any preferences? I am currently enjoying doing as many Randall Garrett stories as I can find but am open to others. Garrett is truly warped sometimes; gotta love him.

Wow, anything by Cordwainer Smith, A E Van Vogt, Alfred Bester, or Iain M Banks would be very cool!

I think VanVogt has something as does Cordwainer Smith; will check 'em out. good suggestions

Very helpful explanation. In 2020 'Playback Meter Toolbar' is your friend. If the value during playback is between -12db to -6db then it is a good volume. More than -6db is hurtful voice.

Hi, i have a problem, my microphone sound was too low, so I put thevolume microphone to 0.8 db, but 2 second later it was in 0.3 db and when I change it it keep going on 0.3 db, what should I do?

Hey thanks for this video. WHat I needed!!!!!!
@cajun545413 жыл бұрын
@SupraROfficiel - yeah, that happens to me too. If I close audacity, or unplug the mic and then reopen it ususally that will fix the problem. the volume will stay where I put it !

How do you set a default recording level (volume)?
@Goombario379 жыл бұрын
I know the decibels amplifier in audacity does not use exact measurements but how can I know how many decibels I can turn up a track and it still be safe? Like with the track I have now, I want it to be 20 db, but the sound kind of hurts my ears, so does that mean it's 20 db, or closer to 80 db or what? If I turned the amplifier up to the max in audacity hypothetically (35 db) would it still be safe? I know it's not just 20 db or 35 db or else it wouldn't sound on the level of a train horn like it does when I put the amplifier up to those ranges. Are all audacity tracks set to a default decibel number?

HELP - where are these numbers generated? Is it on the track and I can't find it? Do you pull down some menu option to search for it? I have been looking for a week, please advise.(ACX RMS Requirement range of -18dB and -23dB RMS. The noise floor -60dB)

Please help while recording vocal,,my volume is to low,, Don't know what to do,,even in my daw it's the same
@cajun54543 жыл бұрын
If you are using Audacity, there is a slider bar (Little microphone) to increase volume, move it all the way to the right. Next, increase the gain on your microphone going into Audacity as much as possible. Try tohse and let me know what happens.
