Is that accurate 800 feet? Were you ever able to repair this?

As it turned out, the well driller had kicked the well shaft toward a seasonal creek (beginning at about 80 feet) that is about 700 feet away from the well head and also about 700 feet down a escarpment and that acute angle in the shaft was what was stopping our sinker. We had a well company come out and put a camera down the well ($2000) and it was in perfect condition all the way down to 825 feet with water being in the last fifty feet, so our method was not entirely correct in its diagnosis.

(sorry I hadn't seen you other reply to a comment) Ok great. Glad things were all ok. Incredible how they do that angle drilling. Not that the expertise and equipment aren't worth it but I guess we know what line of work to get into. That kind of money would allow you to take the time to use that pole for recreation.

get a high power rifle scope to see down the well deeply, with a light of course! better yet use a camera, but not everyone has one................g

As it turned out, the well driller (at about 30 feet deep) had kicked the well at a very sharp angle toward a creek that is 700 feet below the well head and that angle was bring my sinker to a gradual stop. We did end up hiring a well service outfit with a 1000' camera to video the well - and it was clear all the way down.
