If you need to test PCV valve on your car or clean PCV valve that is stuck open or stuck close we will explain how to do that. Most people never replace or test the PCV valve on their car but the PCV valve is very important for your engine. We demonstrated how you can simply test PCV valve in just a few seconds. I usually have a glass jar of acetone on garage. I soak PVC valve for 2 hours. and does the trick. Cleans the gunk inside valve pretty good. Thanks for the informative vedio and Don't forget to have a drink every time your hear "Guys".😁

P.s. some slap shot mechanics, use cheapest vac hose. Vacuum will actually collapse these cheap hoses.

I soaked and cleaned thoroughly the PCV valve, test it using the balloon as you did in the video but I did not deflate immediately the balloon in the PCV valve instead I left on the table for 4 minutes. The minutes passes by, the balloon deflated very slowly. In fact I hear a little bit of hissing sound in the PCV. So my question is should a good PCV valve be air tight sealed or not? Thanks

PCV valves are so cheap, just replace or clean it and see if it fixes the issue. It’s probably not a big deal. If not, check your oil level and coolant levels. If either one is low, fill it up and drive around, check again in a few hundred miles. If you’re loosing coolant or oil, you may have a coolant leak or head gasket issue.

I just bought a 2017 Hyundai sonata I change oil sparks plugs and pcv valve and the oil light came on when breaking I drain the oil and only 1 1/2 quart on it so it burns 3 1/2 quarts in less than 2k miles ,why?

Try using silicone lubricant spray (found in the automotive section at Walmart pretty cheaply) And spray it all around the seals of your valve. It's acetone based, so it's an excellent penetrant. As acetone can cause some finger numbness, Let it dry completely before touching it. This should help make your o-rings more pliable, provide some lubrication, and make it easier to take out. Ballon test was wrong guys. Pcv will pass weak pressure air through it. But not high pressure. The baloon is giving weak pressure of course. Misinformation

Yeah, I tested with a brand new valve and it leaks as you say, same way their broken one does.

Some valves (earlier ones?) don't have balls, but a tapered plunger because at idle you have high manifold vacuum and high speed/ acceleration very low to near no vacuum and so there is a need to moderate those high vacuum conditions. Yes, they never sealed completely by design. One wouldn't want that. These things were on 6 cylinders at least, but the problem with 4 cylinders and less, pulsing and too low a vacuum is created. May be why a ball is used in these cases as you do need a seal? May be there's another scavenging component? I don't know though. It a thing to ponder and find an answer?

No need for a balloon, use your mouth, blow it from one side, the other side won't allow it if its working PCV. 👍👍

The balloon test is a good one, but instead of cleaning it's better just to install a new one (not expensive), I just replaced it in my car myself (just over 75k miles), and I think the car is performing better - who knew this little piece can make such a difference in the car

I changed the pcv valve the hose and the separate data connector going into the resonator but but i still have a p0442 evap small leak the scan tool had said it from the pcv from the mechanic i went to any advice should i have put Teflon tape around the threading to the pcv valve

Valve cover yes, that's how I found out mine was bad. Replaced it a year ago and it started leaking again and even caused timing chain cover to leak as well
