Do we need to replace it with same configuration? Or we can replace it with higher voltage or capacitance?
@HaseebElectronics
@HaseebElectronics 2 жыл бұрын
we must replace with the same value. because it is always a calculated and matched part with other circuitry. if we change with some higher value it will disturb the other circuit which will lead to early destruction of the remaining circuit as well

Thanks very helpful. Question , I have a CBB61 3uf 5% 250VAC 50/60Hz Max Temp 70C E166700 G. Cab I replace it with a CBB61 5uf 5% 250VAC ? Thanks.
@HaseebElectronics
@HaseebElectronics Жыл бұрын
no. these AC capacitors are commonly used in ac motors. increasing capacitance 3 uf to 5 microfarad will cause to increase, which will cause to overspeed the motor, moreover, it will cause to heat up winding in result it will reduce the life span of the unit

What happens if no reading at all or 0.1
@HaseebElectronics
@HaseebElectronics Жыл бұрын
if no reading that means the capacitor is short circuited internally or open circuit check in continuity or resistance mode. if it gives continuity then it is short circuit if it still gives open circuit, then might be it is disconnected internally

Do not touch the capacitor terminal. But I just bought a new capacitor. So do I also need to discharge it before checking its capacitance?
@HaseebElectronics
@HaseebElectronics 3 жыл бұрын
Sure We have to to maintain this practice Because sometimes capacitor out from circuit also holds some Random charge So for best practice we have to discharge it

@@HaseebElectronics Many thanks! Will remember this safe practice. Hope I be able to replace the old capacitor with a new one and fix my fan.

@@HaseebElectronics I have bought the same capacitor but it still doesn't work. Follow your steps properly. And it measures as OL on multimeter after I install the new capacitor. Any advice or could it be other wiring problems/ motor problem?

I forgot to discharge capacitor before reading. And 1.8uf read as 88.0. Why was that ?
@HaseebElectronics
@HaseebElectronics 3 жыл бұрын
Oh no. We must discharge the capacitor in capacitance test. As the multimeter charges the capacitor and reads back that voltage and converts that voltage value into capacitance. If we have charged capacitor, in that case the meter will receive false voltage and will display false reading Moreover it may damage the multimeter

@@HaseebElectronics as far as i remember it was not that big capacitor and it still damaged my multimeter. Multimeter was expensive for my budget, it was a 40 euros one. Extra care should be taken for expensive multimeters.
