Thank you, Dr Westman, for explaining this cholesterol matter so well and de-demonizing it. Most of our lipid profiles have only six lines (CHOL, TRIG, HDL, LDL, CHOL/HDLC & Non HDLC) and do not give a breakdown on LDL particles etc. When you ask the doctors to request the LDL particle readings, they either get annoyed or say, “not necessary” or do both. I am troubled when doctors rely on these six readings and almost force statins on us. I knew a doctor who had the audacity to say he himself was on statins and I shouldn’t be afraid of taking them. 🙄. We (that’s me joining everyone in the audience) are looking forward to the next episode you explaining how to understand/interpret the Lipid Panel readings. Thank you, again, Dr Westman and Glen. 🙌🏻🙌🏻

My Dr did the same. Got annoyed when I asked him if I kept exercising and eating right could I get off statins one day. He said "I [with emphasis] take cholesterol medicine". He's probably in his mid 40s, and a runner and looks to be in pretty good shape. But I don't think he keeps up with research. The one time he recommended a diet it was the Dash diet (low salt). I need to find a keto/carnivore friendly Dr who will work with me on getting healthy from diet, and not just push pills.

Thank you for sharing your experience with your doctor, Ric. I have many doctor friends (and close family) who haven’t undertaken any serious reading since graduating. They say they also want to live a normal life: having a family, working hard and long hours to earn enough to support the family, pay back uni debts, buy property, pay a mortgage, have a holiday home and a boat etc etc. Reading and keeping up with latest medical research is at the bottom of the pile of priorities. Although I live on the other side of the world here in the down under, I get my medical advice from and learn through Dr Westman’s videos. ☺️

Are you familiar with the Boston Heart blood test? I already had the cardio IQ which showed mostly large particles but still some small ones. This was an improvement in particle size since a year ago before I did Keto Made Simple. My tri/HDL was a bit lower but still high because triglicerides were not much different but HDLfinally passed the 50 mark.

My mom's doctor was freaking out over her LDL, I asked about the different sizes and the doctor said it wouldn't affect the treatment 🙄

I cannot express enough how much this video in particular has meant to me. I took notes. I am in the process of changing doctors as my current one is in the dark about the whole picture in regards to cholesterol and has been pushing statins on me for over two years. I have declined each time.

I hope Dr Westman's volume can be a bit higher. It is so hard to hear from Vimeo and KZbin on my laptop despite maxing out, I need to play on my Smart TV and play it twice louder than normal volume to hear him clearly.

Is there a blood test one can take to check on one's immune system or T-cells? If so what would that test be called? Thank you!

You can count NUMBERS of T cells (and a standard blood count tells numbers of the other white cells) but none of these tell you about the function of the immune cells

I suspect when eating a ketogenic diet a fasting blood test could very well raise one’s cholesterol count. 80% of one’s cholesterol is non-diet related, meaning your body produces it. If one is fat-adapted & eats a HFLC/Keto/Carnivore diet & all of a sudden fasts then your body will try to make up for that during said fast.

I like to eat every 24 hours for about 30 minutes. I have no problem, but I am not losing weight. In anticipation of my doctors appointment and Bloodtest I tried to shake my weight set point and went to one small steak and one whole lemon every 24 hours.. my lipids doubled. (my HDL did increase 5 points to 56) So before my next blood test, I’m going to not fast so long and not do the high fat two days before the test. I don’t mind the high scores, but I do wish my triglycerides were not quite so high. (from 138 to 320). Otherwise, HFLC forever. Either keto or carnivore ❤️

Lipo-protein isn’t cholesterol. It’s protein carrying cholesterol. Cholesterol is always just cholesterol.

I’m confused on inflammation. Isn’t inflammation good for building muscle. When lifting weights, don’t we damage muscle cells and they become inflamed. When these cells heal they get bigger and stronger. Or do I have that all wrong? Is there good inflammation and bad inflammation? And if so, can they be distinguished between them?

Inflammation of muscle is different from inflammation in the body, completely different.
