How to test NAC current with a multimeter

Need to test current for a horn strobe circuit? Always make sure your meter is capable of doing this first, and make sure your leads are in the proper spot before testing. Then make sure your meter is set to the DC amps setting.
The positive meter lead goes to your load side coming back to the panel on the positive wire (usually red). Put your negative lead on the positive terminal of the panel. Trip an alarm and you should have something under 3 amps dc.

I have a Fire Lite MS-10UD-7, which when the alarm is activated, NACs show flat zero. What is the problem? If the panel is reset and activated right away afterward, it sounds. I put the panel in walktest one day, and I think that might be something. Thanks.

Walktest will only send a pulse of voltage out, then shut off. I would meter it with the NACs sounding normally. You shouldn't see anything below 16 volts, but it will probably dance between 24 - 18 volts dc, assuming you have it programmed for Temporal 3 (I don't recall the NAC programming options for a FL at the moment, if any at all).
