My Canon won’t work if the memory card is in it. It saves all files to Capture One but I don’t have a card in my camera . This makes me nervous. Is Capture One safe to save without a card in camera?

That was a good job good presentation I also use tether as an addition I have a HDMI cable from my Toshiba laptop to an external monitor mounted on the wall so my models can view the monitor which is awesome setup for me

Great video on the subject. Yes you can do this with Adobe Light room guys but I find that Capture One is a bit faster. Capture One also have a way for your clients to review images on there iPad or phone which also keeps a client from being to close to you on set. They can sit back a see the images as you take them. I don't think it will make your photography any better but it will let you look at a bigger image which should help you see what your lightning looks like so you can make better changes on set. Its a good product! Trust me I am a pro and shoot for a living!

Excellent video! I'm doing at least 80% of my work tethered. I'm using an old Canon 30D & Canon 5d MARK II depending on the job. All of sudden both Cameras do NOT want to tether to my HP laptop. I have changed batteries, put on a new Tether Pro cable (never used), tested the cameras work, everything seems to work but either camera will connect to the computer! Any Suggestions?

@@MiguelQuilesJr Thanks for the input. No the computer does not seem to make any sound. The ports have always worked before on the computer but i did try different ports. The only thing else i can add at this point is the cameras seem to do continous buffering as soon as i start tether capture. I am going to try the Canon EOS software in a few minuites to see if that works.

great video. I am confused with AF button. I have a a7rv with 24-70 gm2. In a livestream, david Grover says that AF button doesn't work with Sony. For still photo, Do i set my camera to manual focus or AF-S with single point ? a pity we don't see in live view the focus point of sony camera. For portrait, just AF-C with eye detection so sure eye will be accurate ? more tuto on tether in practice with focusing are welcome.

ive wondered about tethering for a while now. i have used LR for many years and still run 5.71 (my wife and daughter got the 2 licenses on LR6!) and ive not been able to justify springing for a perpetual subscription on LR. so I went with a purchase (yeah i know the upcoming pitfalls) for Capture One. my laptop, really is HD-challenged. I wish it had a couple of TB of HD but being SSD, theyre not very big. i currently download my cards to a portable HD that i plug in. here is my question: can i tether directly to my portable HD? it would be much more convenient than trying to shoot and save on the computer, since the images would all have to be moved (negating any workflow savings) of saving on the computer... also ive thought about just picking up a tablet to use as a 'big monitor' for the client to see, while saving to my memory cards. i dont see where most android tables have more than just the standard 'charging' port. do you know of any that have auxillary or extra ports for use as a monior?

Thank you! Image quality will be the same, but the cable tether will transfer large images much faster and prevent causing a bottle neck while you're shooting. Wifi still has a ways to go to make it a viable option over using a cable.

With you 100% except for the tether jerk, it is useless and a complete ripoff, it doesn’t cost more than a few cents to produce and sold for an extortion price, fair enough if it was actually working, but in reality the cable still moves, resulting in eventually damaging the port. The plate that they make that fits on the tripod plate screw is far better, still priced as if it was made of gold though,.... Personally I use an universal L bracket combined with a small plate of similar concept to the one from tether company, 15 box in Total on amazon, and a few trusted cable ties; on the laptop end again I use cable ties; fair enough my approach takes a few minutes longer to set up, however not only it’s cheaper but actually 100% effective and safe when it comes to preventing the ports being damaged as well as 100% secure in relation to accidental disconnections...

That's exactly how I do it these days. I do my editing on my office or home computer and having that on a drive makes it easy.

This is a paid sponsored video by Capture One, I get it. I'm even using Capture One myself in one of my notebooks, BUT, saying is more powerful than Lr is a little bit too much. I'm still learning the software, but I did things, and I'm talking only about exposure, nothing really complex, with Lr than I couldn't do with Capture One. As I said, I'm still learning the software, but so far, after a couple of months, I'm still prefering Lr for my weddings and stuff for example. Will see.

For me, layers is better. I have access to almost every tool when I'm using a layer. So I can color grade on a layer whereas LR just let's me colorize by setting balance (I think) or just one color. LR doesn't allow me to just adjust the blues for instance. For me, it's about the color work that makes it so powerful. I also find it faster to use in my computers.

@@shifteleven Thanks, that's a proper answer mate. You can adjust the color one by one in Lr too. As I said, I'm still trying to use Capture One as an alternative, but so far, there are simple things, simple corrections that I do in just a second with Lr that I can't do in Capture One. I suppose it's a matter of time, but I'm not saying is bad, not at all. I'm just trying to comprehend the notion behind it. Many people use the soft for a reason.

@@EagerSnake you missed a subtle but important condition in my answer - in a layer. You can't use HSL sliders when you're using a local adjustment in LR. And hey man, if LR is working for you, it's working for you. For me, it's was worth it to switch, especially as a Fuji user ( read up on sharpening and worms )

Absolutely! In that case see if you can transfer smaller files from the camera. On Sony cameras you can tether and send a 2mb file.

You could always use Lightroom, but depending on what camera brand you use the integration takes a little more work and isn't as reliable. When it comes to tethering, Capture One is the industry standard. Why are you searching for an alternative?

If you're using Capture One, it takes a few seconds or so for the images to sharpen up while they are importing. That's totally normal. It should load up the high res preview within a few moments though and let you edit from there.

I just figured it. It's quite instant when it works. The problem fixed itself. So I deleted the session and started a new one and now it works flawless. Thanks for the response and I hope this help others wondering the same.

I don't believe so, but to be honest I've never tried that. I imagine that would be quite the bottleneck if you're not using a fast enough computer and cable. What would be the use case for you?

Uso un iMac 27 como fijo y un MacBook Pro del 2010 para importar mis sesiones y retoques cuando no estoy en el estudio. Al portátil no puedo hacerle los últimos updates de adobe o COne así que estoy empezando a ver como reemplazarlo sin gastar una fortuna 😅 En tu video sobre el tethering vi que usabas el HP ZBook X2. Lo que me preocupa de salir del ambiente Apple son los colores, como se comporta el hp?
