How to Theme your Android Phone like a Boss

A lot of you have been asking how I themed my phone in my video series Android Vs iOS. Here is a step by step tutorial teaching you how to setup widgets and the layout to make your Android phone look like a boss! The demo was done with the Verizon Galaxy Nexus, but in theory you can do this with any Android phone.

Not sure if anyone has posted this yet, but to clear it up DIP stands for density independent pixel. As resolution increases on devices the need for a resolution independent standard has arisen. As more and more devices follow this trend look to see the term used a lot more. Also, in the Minimalistic Text widget it is pronounced "Ak sented" not "assented" as in he spoke with an accent.

One quick tip bro. As your using nova launcher to change icons you don't need to do it on the manner that you are. There's an easier way: Long press icon Click edit Click on the icon As your using metrostation like me you can select adw theme icon Then select icon pack metrostation Then select the icon and color and voila ! OMFG thanks a bunch! Now my S3 looks minimalistic. But I recommend adding the honeycomb wallpaper to PhoTile (a free app in the Play Store) live wallpaper.

Right now I'm using Holo Launcher on my S3. It's absolutely fantastic. The Holo Lock is also great for getting the lock screen like Jelly Bean. I recommend the launcher, very light, fast, and gets your phone looking like Jelly Bean very easily.

It's same process basically. Just load up any widget of your choice...and then follow these steps--->Open up the editor(should open by default on selection of widget) then swipe over to the Layout tab, delete the current rows and then click add row, then click on the plus in the bottom left, and then swipe until you find what you need.

This is what is called a freedom phone...you are free to do what you want in terms of customization. You cannot do this with iPhone...I mean you can customize iPhone using apps and such but customization that goes as deep as shown in this video is just authentic. Notice, the reviewer has changed the color of his menu buttons...that is Epic!!

You'd have to mod your OS. Search up Galaxy Nexus XDA, and look under the subforum called Themes and Apps. Should be a couple posts about changing your softkey colours, looks, etc. You can also install custom ROMs that can do all that for you, which would all be listed under the subsection called Android Development.

This is a great video for customizing your phone, Great work Armando. Already used some of your tips to get my boss on my Nexus 4. But, why do you say Assented not Accented? Do you pronounce it the same when talking about different people's accents (the way their voice sounds)?

For the Nexus logo as your app drawer icon, I HAVE NO IDEA HOW HE DOES IT, but you can go to the play store and download nexus circle icon pack. use it like metro station to change the icon and thats it

In addition; download A.I type Keyboard and customize it yourself. You can adjust Key height greatly, add your own keyboard background and customize key colour. I've used a lot of free keyboards so far, Android 2.3, Smart, SlideIt, Gingerbread SenseMod and so on, but none has made me more satisfied than this keyboard.

I have a SGS2 and did that with my own touch and my phone looks great .. This is the first time I get something as usefull as touchwizz (I need my apps grouped in folder coz I have 200 or so ... ) My only regret is that I used NOVA as recommended , APEX has more features in the free version like pinch to show all the tabs an more others gesture actions .. Now I spent a day to get it done Im not ready to repeat it with apex :( But still super hapyyyyyyyyyy with the result .. THX man

You have to flash the AOKP Rom. With that you can add more than 3 keys and change the color and size, just youtube search AOKP Rom Galaxy Nexus. Hope this helps.

I'm not sure if all roms have that option but in AOKP the option to change the color is in the rom control settings.

It should work on all Android devices, except for Nova Launcher which requires at least ICS (Android 4.0, just tap "About phone" in the settings to find out) but ADW works for older ones. Both are on the Play Store for free.

No. Though they do take up a little battery, they aren't being updated/using CPU all the time, so there's not really any problematic drain. Except the weather widget, nothing is actually doing anything in the background, and even the weather widget works on intervals..

it really depends.... if u like vanilla/ stock Android then go with the nexus... if u like touchwiz go with the s3... if u like the design of either one that could make the difference... if none of those things matter i would go with the s3 just because its 3x more powerful but most people really dont need that fast of a processor... also keep in mind if ur buying an unlocked version the nexus will be way cheaper cause the nexus is $400 on the play store while the Galaxy s3 will probably be $700

hey just wanted to tell u that u donot need to save the icon image from metrostation to sd if u hav nova launcher Just do the following: 1/ Press and hold the icon 2/ Click on the icon 3/ Click on `Icon Pack' 4/ Click on MetroStation 5/ Select the image u want and ur done.......
