Thanks for the great information. Should my thread unwind from the top or bottom of the horizontal spool? Maybe I should be using a vertical spool pin? I'm using Dual Duty XP All Purpose polyester thread from Coats and Clark. The thread is "stacked" on the spool, not cross wound. Thanks for any information you can provide.

Buy Mettler or Guttermann thread and use the horizontal spool pin for best results

Three buttons on front of machine close to needle bar. Lowest button is reverse.
