Thanks man! Fishing buddy just gave me one of these today. Said he couldn't get it to work right. I couldn't either, but figured it had to do with holding the ring and tossing it. The part with picking up the back lead and draping it over the ring is what brought it all together. Thanks for sharing!

To be honest, I prefer the nets that don't have the rings. I did this video because my buddy was having trouble with his ring net and I figured others were as well. If I happened upon a good deal on a larger net with a ring, though, I'd give it a shot.

Man I like this net really is easy to cast and get a good spread. I think it will do just fine for catching pin fish for bait. Wouldn't recommend it for anything else but small baits like Pin Fish and Shrimp. I have no idea how anyone would find Shrimp near the shore or a pier but eh! Good for small bait. I had a few bad casts I find it better to use it in the water rather than in your yard. $11 was a good deal but I paid $40 for mine.

Hmmm the part you claim is the back part of the net you grab with the weights on it looks more like the front that you're grabbing not the back part videos don't always do that good to help until you end up figuring it out on your own later. Best way to find out I guess is try it both ways in the back yard, I guess. Disappointed that Wally World didn't have a 5-6 foot net.
@TheWeekendAngler5 жыл бұрын
You're grabbing the line that's closest to you and bringing it to the front. I've owned a few Walmart Nets. They rip far too easily. I'm not a huge fan of this design, and use a standard fitec rs1000 net most of the time, but this net does work as intended.

@@TheWeekendAngler girlfriend has a 5 foot net but it's been over 15 years since I last used a cast net when I was 14 I was able to cast a 8 foot net I can't even get a 5 to spread, I practiced for about an hour on Friday I never did luck watched a few videos on "Easy way to use a cast net" none of them helped I'll figure it out again one day. Haven't did any cast netting since I was 14 and I am 36 now. I just the other day found out about the circle hook. Works good but I already had 2 cat fish get hooked in the eye with a circle hook. Down here in Florida we have afternoon thunderstorms with nasty lightning so it's hard to get out in fish. Where I live it's pretty ghetto about 5 miles so all the people looking to start a problem with come around the piers mosquitoes are really bad now to at night

@@MatthewHKnight I have been using a slightly different method on my standard cast Nets. It took me a very long time to figure out a method that would work for me. I think I watched just about every video on KZbin on how to throw cast Nets before I had somebody's show me this technique. I'm going to try to get a video done in the very near future outlining that method, but I've actually been wanting to shoot that video next to a pool so that I could put a GoPro at the bottom of the pool it showed just how that net Falls.

Dont be tempted to buy this type on net over 4 feet, I made that mistake, I like a dummy thought a 6 foot one would be cool, no, its pretty much impossible to throw. This thing turned out to be a notorious tangler and no, you cant fold it to make it shorter you will never get that perfect pancake circle, I have a four foot one and it throws perfect every time. my six foot is a rats nest tossed in my garage never to be thrown again, maybe ill just cut it up for the weights!
@TheWeekendAngler3 жыл бұрын
That's good to know. I had been tempted to buy an 8 footer. Now I won't. Lol.
@mibnixon3 жыл бұрын
yeah I had such good luck with the four footer i figured a six footer would be great, big mistake, best to get a conventional cast with no ring if you want to go six feet or better. the ring net as long as you don't fold it it will open ok, but its difficult to throw you literally have to do a 360 spin to get any distance, the six footer is a pain!
