Thank you very much my friend I really appreciate the content as I'm going through this issue as well as not being able to get off of my back foot to follow through as well at this very moment in my disc golf journey.

I still struggle with nose angle... Thanks for the tip, Broho. As for tip videos... how do you get snap?

Hopefully you can get that nose angle dialed! And I’ll see if maybe I can come up with a video that would work with that.

What is needed in this discussion of angle of attack is slow motion video of "nose down" actually flying better than a neutral angle of attack. Tech Disc is a great tool, but I am very skeptical that what is being called nose down = a negative angle of attack and not roll angle instead. Nose up is a common problem for sure, and I believe what people are getting from videos like these is how to reduce nose up angles and get closer to a level release, which is a great benefit and can add big distance. Having the disc be anything other than completely parallel with the pitch angle is problematic and will increase drag substantially. Imagine this: You are driving in a car going 60mph you have a disc on a pivoting fixture that only allows positive or negative pitch (nose down, level and nose up) You stick this fixture out the window and you start with the disc perfectly level (and parallel with the cars trajectory through the air) this is optimal. If you move the nose up even 1 degree, the disc will want to go up and if it is not allowed to, there will be a lot of drag. The same is true for nose down. A negative angle will make the disc want to go towards the ground. A disc is also a wing, so the exception to all of this is that in level flight, most discs create lift, and this can result in a disc gaining a little altitude while also have a neutral angle of attack. Disc spin adds gyroscopic stability, but a non spinning disc has the same wing shape and generation of lift, etc. I contend that ANY level throw that gains altitude after release has a zero or a positive angle of attack. Any throw that loses altitude immediately after release has a nose down, negative angle. I will be very interested if these concepts can be proven wrong with something other than the Tech Disc. Anyone work at a wind tunnel?

Good video, nose angle is a constant struggle for me. Could you do a tip video on the release of the disc from the hand? How to time it and how to get maximum spin. Similar to the nose angle but focused on the disc rolling of the fingers. Thanks!

I’ll see if that’s something I can work up here at somepoint!

You won't actually "release" the disc. It'll rip out of your hand with proper form. It should rip out around 10 o clock if you picture it as your target being 12 o clock, bring the disc across the chest then out at 10. Picture a catapult. It doesn't launch at the end. With the exception of approach shots you may intentionally release depending on what you are attempting.

@@Gh0stz9211 Thanks. I think I understand the idea you are describing, I just don’t know how to fix it!!! I occasionally release the way you described and I get much better distance and flight, but it is not consistent. When I focus on holding on and not releasing the disc my nose angle gets worse. 🙄 Again thanks, your input is appreciated!

Thanks! I love having the yard. I wanted more property than we got but for the location this was amazing yard to get. I may be able to do that one day. I’ve done it a few times. It’s fun throwing those skip shots off driveway lol

I can definitely put together another video focusing on upshots. Most of my practice tends to be in that “upshot” range. I go outside in my yard and throw over and over the same discs. Easiest practice for me to get with two kids lol. I’ll see what I can do!

So if you throw and the disc does not gain altitude do you then know the nose angle was good?
@DaddyDelpDiscGolf
@DaddyDelpDiscGolf 10 ай бұрын
It can be an indicator that you have decent nose angle but probably isn’t the absolute confirmation that it’s perfect. I only say this because you can throw nose down with an upward launch angle. Meaning the disc is nose down but disc is still going on an upward trajectory from where it was thrown but disc isn’t nose up and will fly better and farther. This example is pretty hard to actually do correctly for alot of players
