probably my favourite knot. Though I don't use it often, it's the best alternative in some situations. Thanks for the tip, I use it to whip the ends of a rope, and the figure-8 approach will save a lot of time.

The second one is actually a clove hitch. It will not keep tight after you romove tension. It will just prevent slippage when either end is pulled. Technically, they are both hitches.

The Clove Hitch hasn’t that “overhand” under the loops. The loose ends stay side by side without cross each other. Nice video by the way. Thanks.

wow. thats easy. and useful. um... one of the goats has had mastitis. vet was rather dismissive... this morning it erupted in a foul smelling lump of grossness. i expected to just constrict it and let nature do its course. went and found a nice bit of thick fishing line so it wouldnt cut in... rather moot point in hindsight.... what i didnt expect was a clean incision. sorta wish i had that on camera, would have made some people sick :)
