My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 months ago and started chemo this week. She insisted on shaving her head so that her hair would be gone on her own terms, not chemo's, but she's had a rough time adjusting. She bought a head scarf because she's embarrassed to show her bald head but couldn't figure out how to wear the darn thing! My sister had talked to her about empowerment from baldness but right now my mom doesn't want to hear that from us. It was incredible to watch my mom's perspective and attitude change while she was watching your video because of how you talked about your own feelings on the exact same subject. You were the "real" voice she needed to hear, so thank you for sharing this video. Your upbeat, positive attitude along with your thoughts on your situation meant more to my mother, and also to me, than words can explain. Wishing you well. :)

I was just complaining to my mom and crying because of my "fat" thighs and my "miserable " relationship with my bf... I came here somehow and now I feel really bad for complaining about such unnecessary things... You're really inspiring and I hope you're doing better! You seem like a person who chooses to live against all odds! 💜💚🙏🏽🙏🏽

I'm doing well! I hope the video was helpful. I'm cancer free, have a full head of hair, and doing great. Just had a check up in January and I'm healthy. June 4th, 2013 will be the 3 year mark for finishing chemo and I plan to wear a headscarf in honor of all the women fighting cancer and doing it beautifully without a strand of hair on their head:)

My sister just found out that she will lose her hair from her cancer treatment between now and Christmas. I was looking online for scarves for Christmas, then I saw this video. You are inspiring and I love your positive attitude. I think she will really appreciate this video. Really awesome ideas. Thank you!

Esther. My wife and I recently found out that she has breast cancer. She is having a lumpectomy as well as radiation, all beginning July 10th. I am so proud of how well she has been through this... family, friends, work... have all be supportive for her. She says she's ready to 'kick cancer's ass'. At the same time, she knows she has a battle. I searched for vids on supporting someone... your video is so inspiring. I can't wait for Tina to watch it. You'll inspire her greatly I'm sure. ty

Hi Esther! I just wanted to thank you about this video. My mom had a breast cancer operation 2 months ago. Started chemo 20 days ago and she just lost her hair last night. She is in Bulgaria and I am in Scotland, so, at this stage I wanted to give her ideas about good looks and your video is just THE VIDEO. Very happy for you being all well now. Had my 2nd chemo today. The doc & nurse want me to be prepared as they say my hair will be coming out most likely in the next week. As a cancer patient, I'm ready to beat this. As a woman, I am scared. I haven't decided to go with wigs or scarfs and hats. So tonight I did a youtube search on how to wear scarfs & yours is the first one I have watched. I can't begin to tell you how much better I felt. You have a great attitude! And I realize now that my hair doesn't define who I am :) Thank you!

First off, how adorable are you! Love your energy! Thank you! I, too , have stage 3 breast cancer. I prefer scarves and hats. Not a wig person. So to watch your suggestions was most helpful! I've been playing around to and I'm loving all the looks. I feel very comfortable going out in my scarves and hats with my big girl earrings. Some say I've taken 15 years off in my looks. We will get on the other of this. You are a rock start! Beautiful Lady!

I got dianosed with lymphoma 6 weeks ago and after 2 lots of chemo my hair is just starting to fall out, at first this worried me and I thought I'd be stuck wearing a boring wig for the next year but I'm actually really looking forward to recycling all my old t-shirts that no longer fit me due to the weight I've lost, such a good idea and looks so comfortable. Your an absolute inspiration to other young ladies who have cancer like myself, and well done for having the balls to do this video :-) x

"Fake birds and small stuffed animals..." I lost it right there hahaha! I'm on week three PCV for Grade II Astrocytoma, and I have a little hair left miraculously, but it is rapidly evacuating. I am desperate for wig alternatives because it's still hot here and they also make my head pain worse. Thank you so much. This video changed my life. Well it changed the way I feel about my life. As you can see in my profile picture, my hair was mi biggest "accessory". It was always different, colors, extensions, cuts, etc. Losing my hair to cancer was heart breaking. Some people can really pull off that "I lost my hair to cancer and I can rock the bald look like nobodys business" look, but I am not one of them. Thank you for this amazing video. And for helping me find my new accessory. YOU ROCK!

Came across your video while looking for ways to use a scarf to keep my very tangly hair out of my face and contained while it grows back out. I don't have cancer, I donated my hair for the fifth time to Wigs for Kids and the stylist who cut it ignored my telljng her I needed to be able to keep it back in a short braid so I can take baseball caps on and off (I get migraines from overhead lights). She cut it so short I can't even keep it all contained in pigtails so now I am rocking the head scarves for the next few months in solidarity with those who have received my hair donations. Thank you particularly for the T-shirt tip, my skin reacts to synthetics so that gives me a way to go save some money by opening up thrift store shirts as an option. Hope you are well on your way to abundant health and a long happy life!

Thank you so much for your positive attitude!!! I was recently diagnosed with breast cancer and I am beginning to lose my hair. I have been worried how I will look bald and I have had a hard time today especially since large chunks are falling out. Your video is so inspiring and I appreciate the tips. I really love the colorful scarves you have. I look forward to trying your instructions. You are so beautiful :)

Your amazing!!! What a refreshing attitude you have. My mother in law has just started chemo and is not looking forward to loosing her hair. But we have been looking at headscarfs for around the house for her to wear. And this has been extremely helpful. Thank you. And God bless. Xx

Ester, I just have to say thank you for doing this tutorial. My mom is going through chemo & is just beginning to lose her hair. We were going to just do the normal bandana style, not really knowing that there were other options. These styles are SO cute & really do look fashionable, not just like she's hiding her "baldness". I'm so excited to try these with her & so is she. Thanks for giving a lot of beauty back to all of the sweet ladies already dealing with so much.

I was just diagnosed with lymphoma a month ago and my hair started falling out after my first chemo treatment. I already had some scarves, but had no idea how to tie or style them, so this video is very useful. I love your style.

What a great Idea. Some of us just have bad hair days and this is something that I can do rather than arguing with it. Keep fighting and I know you will win. You are a hero. .

Your rock Ester! Doing a little research for a family member, her daughter's wedding is in two weeks and she's looking for some already-made head covers...but hard to find something that suits her dress. You make it look so easy and fast to do it yourself that she might feel comfortable try out with a fabric that she can choose herself! I will show her your video. Thank you! (BTW I loved what you said about feeling liberated and hair as safety blankets. Grazie again)

Thank you so much, I was having a crisis of confidence with my wig, so I followed your guide and had so many compliments on my headscarf - even from the hospital staff 😊

I am shaving my hair off for charity in two weeks. The hair will be donated to 'The Little Princess Trust' to make a wig for girls going through chemotherapy. Then the rest will be shaved to raise sponsorship money to buy reusable sanitary towels for girls in kenya. I was looking at different videos on tying head scalves. Yours was by far the best one! I send you lots of good wishes from the United Kingdom. Take care and Thank You! xx

Awesome job! You’re a natural! Honestly kept me smiling the entire time and got a great idea for my old T-shirts instead of turning them into rags! Thank you so much. I hope you’re feeling well , I will keep you in my prayers xoxo.
