My mother was diagnosed with breast cancer 3 months ago and started chemo this week. She insisted on shaving her head so that her hair would be gone on her own terms, not chemo's, but she's had a rough time adjusting. She bought a head scarf because she's embarrassed to show her bald head but couldn't figure out how to wear the darn thing! My sister had talked to her about empowerment from baldness but right now my mom doesn't want to hear that from us. It was incredible to watch my mom's perspective and attitude change while she was watching your video because of how you talked about your own feelings on the exact same subject. You were the "real" voice she needed to hear, so thank you for sharing this video. Your upbeat, positive attitude along with your thoughts on your situation meant more to my mother, and also to me, than words can explain. Wishing you well. :)

June 4th, 2013 will be the 3 year mark for finishing chemo and I plan to wear a headscarf in honor of all the women fighting cancer and doing it beautifully without a strand of hair on their head:)

Esther. My wife and I recently found out that she has breast cancer. She is having a lumpectomy as well as radiation, all beginning July 10th. I am so proud of how well she has been through this... family, friends, work... have all be supportive for her. She says she's ready to 'kick cancer's ass'. Had my 2nd chemo today. The doc & nurse want me to be prepared as they say my hair will be coming out most likely in the next week. As a cancer patient, I'm ready to beat this. I got dianosed with lymphoma 6 weeks ago and after 2 lots of chemo my hair is just starting to fall out, at first this worried me and I thought I'd be stuck wearing a boring wig for the next year but I'm actually really looking forward to recycling all my old t-shirts that no longer fit me due to the weight I've lost, such a good idea and looks so comfortable. "Fake birds and small stuffed animals..." I lost it right there hahaha! I'm on week three PCV for Grade II Astrocytoma, and I have a little hair left miraculously, but it is rapidly evacuating. I am desperate for wig alternatives because it's still hot here and they also make my head pain worse. Thank you so much. This video changed my life. Well it changed the way I feel about my life. As you can see in my profile picture, my hair was mi biggest "accessory". It was always different, colors, extensions, cuts, etc. Losing my hair to cancer was heart breaking. i want to say i commend u very much so i spent my fathers day this year (2013) for a st baldricks fund. we raised $12,000 for this foundation in hopes to catching cancer with children and finding a cure. needless to say I am a 27 year old female shavee and i came to look for ways to use a headscarf and ur video helped. Came across your video while looking for ways to use a scarf to keep my very tangly hair out of my face and contained while it grows back out. I don't have cancer, I donated my hair for the fifth time to Wigs for Kids and the stylist who cut it ignored my telljng her I needed to be able to keep it back in a short braid so I can take baseball caps on and off (I get migraines from overhead lights). She cut it so short I can't even keep it all contained in pigtails so now I am rocking the head scarves for the next few months in solidarity with those who have received my hair donations. Thank you particularly for the T-shirt tip, my skin reacts to synthetics so that gives me a way to go save some money by opening up thrift store shirts as an option. I would like to tell you that I never had an account to comment on a KZbin video before I watched yours. I just lost my hair and had it buzzed yesterday and began to wear my wig. I am 41 and horribly vain about my long hair. After watching your video and seeing how young and how brave you are, I want you to know that I was inspired to be brave and start wearing the scarves I bought. Your rock Ester! Doing a little research for a family member, her daughter's wedding is in two weeks and she's looking for some already-made head covers...but hard to find something that suits her dress. You make it look so easy and fast to do it yourself that she might feel comfortable try out with a fabric that she can choose herself! I will show her your video. Thank you! I am shaving my hair off for charity in two weeks. The hair will be donated to 'The Little Princess Trust' to make a wig for girls going through chemotherapy. Then the rest will be shaved to raise sponsorship money to buy reusable sanitary towels for girls in kenya. I was looking at different videos on tying head scalves. Yours was by far the best one!
