How to tie a knot in thread from www.easysewingf...
This is a quick and easy trick for tying a knot in your thread. You're less likely to have your thread go all the way through your fabric when starting your hand stitching.
You can see how it's done left handed and right handed! I've been practising for you.

My grandaughter aged six who is LEFT HANDED had been taught how to do this last year but couldn't quite remember. She re- learnt how to do it with your left handed instructions in a flash. It's rare anyone remembers the lefties. Granny also learnt how to do it. Sewing for 60 odd years and never knew! What a revelation... Thank you SO much !

My Mom’s method is to lick your thumb & middle finger and then scrunch the ends of the thread together between the two fingers. It was so frustratingly unreliable and gross 😂. Back then there weren’t many resources, so whatever you gotta do, I guess! 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thanks so much. I have been sewing for 45 years and have tied I'm sure hundreds of knots. I just make a ball of thread at the tail and pull until it makes a knotted mess. It works but it's not an awesome way to do it. I saw someone at an embroidery class do it your way and wow, so much better. I had to KZbin it to get the instructions. I will be bookmarking this for reference in case I forget lol

It sounds like an exaggeration but this is literally life-changing - thank you SO much!! Also, I very much appreciate your clear, eloquent teaching technique. Thank you 👍

Thank you for posting this! This method is so much more reliable for me than rolling the thread between my forefinger and thumb. I used to end up with these ugly, tangled looking knots that I sewed with anyway because, hey, at least the thread was anchored. With this tutorial, I was finally able to make a normal, proper looking knot.

Slowly but surely I finally got it! But I had to go over the video again and again to get it. It’s actually easier than it looks. You just put the end of the thread next to the eye of the needle and take the rest that is closest to the end (the one being held next to the eye), wrap it around a few times and just push down through the needle carefully. It gets easier as you practice.
