Not everyone likes a full, long gele. So this tutorial is for those who love to wear their gele short and cute. This style is easy to tie, easy to wear and easy to manage.

I was about to buy a ready made Gele hat. I searched and the Geles were made in China! No! Either made by Africans or I will do my best for myself. Monies would be better to help African children with needed school fees and other important things, not into the hands of the Chinese. Yes, I have helped, not only words but auction. I will look at this video again and proudly wear my Gele hat. Thanks so much. 11/20/2018 Tuesday

This is a beautiful tutorial and a beautiful wrap. Thank you for sharing your expertise. Okay, I'm gonna ask what is probably a really stupid question, actually a couple of what are probably really stupid questions. Please forgive me. Are these things reusable? I'm new to this, to the idea of the gele, and I don't know any person around me who knows about them to ask. It looks like fabric, it sounds like paper, but I know it is fabric. I can't figure out if a fully starched piece of fabric, once used, and presumably permanently creased and wrinkled, would ever be able to be used again, without restarching it properly. And I don't know if that's a thing. I wouldn't even begin to know how to get this much starch on a thing without it being weird, and flaky, and just awful. I'm a white girl, also a blonde, and I have that silk like, terribly fine, smooth hair, and in order to get any wrap to stay on my head I have to first wrap it in velvet so that I can actually build a bit of a nap. I'm wondering if something so starched, so smooth, would even stay on my head? Is it the tightness that keeps it on? Again, with my very smooth hair, tight can end up making my wraps want to slip right off. I love this look, this gele, all of the gele, and I would love to wear one, but I'm not entirely sure I can wear a traditional one, because I'm worried about it staying on my head, but also I worry that practicing tying one would ruin one that I purchased. And for a question that is perhaps not stupid: Is it appropriate to wear gele to any formal occasion? My understanding is that they are a tradition for weddings but I feel like I've seen them at other formal occasions. Would it be inappropriate to wear this to a formal occasion that was not a wedding? I hope you don't mind my asking stupid questions and perhaps won't mind answering them too. Please know that I am asking from a place of deepest respect. I would sooner shave my head than to upset anyone by wearing their traditional cloth, in error, on my head. Thank you!

Yes it's reusable and is worn on african traditional attires. I don't think it's appropriate for formal attires though. And by all means if you like it you can rock it on simple traditional gowns or skirt and blouse for weddings and church too!
