The Peeping October Caddis is a must-have for fish gorging themselves on big bugs before the long cold winter sets in. This emerging pattern was originally developed by George Anderson, owner of Anderson's Yellowstone Angler Fly Shop on the Yellowstone River. Later, Carl Richards and Bob Braendle inverted Anderson's original design into the Peeping Caddis you often see tied and fished today. Tied on a jig hook with an oversized tungsten bead, this fly is quick, simple, and very effective on the freestone rivers throughout Colorado in the fall. Fish it on a Euro rig or drop it under an indicator. The Peeping Caddis is sure to entice some strikes.

Great question! This pattern is intended to be our anchor fly on a European Nymphing rig, therefore it is heavily weight so that you can fish it on a tight line with no split-shot. If you want to learn more about the technique we're always happy to chat about it!
