I’m wondering how 130amps down hill on a butt weld has sufficient thermal energy to fuse into the 3/4” material. I weld mostly structural and generally anything that thick and up has a WPS for above 300amps

Man, that freehand work is some BEAUTIFUL bead! I wonder how many feet of weld he lays down every day?

Y'all just had a vid about hazardous welding fumes, stainless and brass were the focus, but I dont see any fume PPE or extraction in this vid...
@zenlandzipline4 ай бұрын
I was thinking the same thing. Thats a LOT of stainless welding to do with no fume protection. I’ll admit, I do quite a bit of stainless welding, and if I’m just doing a few small welds, I dont wear anything. But if I’m about to lay down 20-30 welds, or 2-3 feet of welds, I wear a respirator. This guy is doing about an 8 foot long weld to go around that circumference…without and fume extractor or respirator. I guess it’s possible he normally wears a respirator or fresh air helmet, and maybe he just didn’t have it on so he could speak easier for this demo video.

@@MacDaddyShreds yeah, but they should have stated that. A simple “I usually wear lung protection, but for these short welds on this short video, I am foregoing PPE so as the audience can hear me speak clearer. I do t recommend breathing in stainless welding fumes”. Pretty simple.

It's all lip service, man. Nobody actually wears that stuff because OSHA doesn't say you have to. All the welders know. None of them care.
