This has been so helpful to us and have watched it about 20 times at different points. Man do you make it look easy! I know why people get paid lots of money to do this, and why people who can afford to pay.. Thanks for posting this though, its the most helpful one on youtube.

Excellent and valuable instruction video, I wanted these bevelled tiles, but was doubtfull about their ease of tiling and cutting, now I'm more confident. But if you'd like to do another video in Red. Your welcome to use my Kitchen!!

Hi again samanngibson, you find most tilers will run a bead of white silicon in the corners as well as at the base. This generally covers it, if you don't chose to use this method then usually the grout takes the eye away from the discrepancy and it looks natural to the eye. Glad to be of help and I wish all goes well with your project..

Such a generous lovely man with your intellect and knowledge! Thank you! I would love to try this soon fingers crossed it looks as good as yours! People like you are a special generation.. people are so shallow now days.. would make u pay for the sun shine if they could😂 😁 ☝️🙏 God Bless You. For me it's not about having or not having the money, it's learning something I can do myself and appreciate it or maybe even make someone else feel better ! Knowledge is key! and it humbles you! Makes you really understand the phrase idle hands- idle mind! Better to be humble than to be self righteous! Anyone can pay for stuff by ways and means but hardly anyone fills their head with knowledge.. that's why the world is full of in-compassionate A-holes. Their heads are full of nothingness.. and that means something to them. Lol. ( sorry for the rant but It's got to be said ) 😊

Hi samanngibson, in answer to your question. Obviously when you cut through the tile it has a rough open end. However, when you but the cut end up to the edging strip you will find it stands slightly proud of the strip but, when grouted it is hardly noticeable and you see it blends in very well.

wish i'd have seen this video before i started my tiling. i made the mistake of not using the pyramid method under my cooker hud. got the bottom tiled centered but worked out from there. the second row i worked from the edge to the other end of the wall. when i got to under the wall units with the tiles i was off centre by about 3mm not only that , i was left with a 3mm gap between the tile and the edging strip on one end of the wall stupid mistake but i'd never done tiling before. thanks for the video it will teach people how to do it correctly.

I usually turn the last tile vertical like a soldier course under the cooker hood , this cooker hood is an unfortunate width, so I'm not sure if I'd have cut level with the bottom or let the tile ride up to the top of the side of the hood

Great video thanks. I am using the same type of tile myself at the moment but I found that these bevelled edge tiles look crap with a cut edge against the edging strip. I am now contemplating doing the two walls around the window in a stacked fashion rather than offset as it will be a neater edge. Are half tiles available ie 100x100 bevelled edge?

About to tile my kitchen tomorrow for the first time I’ve got bevelled edge tiles too. You know for the sockets do the tiles sit around it with it screwed flush to wall or on top of the tiles? I ask this because if it’s on top with the tiles being bevelled it would leave a gap for stuff to get behind the sockets. I presume you screw them to the wall and put the tiles around the socket?

Buy yourself a electric tile cutter it will make the job so much easier and accurate. They start from £30 and will probably save that in less broken tiles.
@kurtwm2010
@kurtwm2010 8 жыл бұрын
let me see if I can ask this correctly....I plan on doing the same thing, but using white beveled tile. It seems that my electric outlet cover, when placed on top of the tile will have low areas due to the bevel in each tile. Depending on what part (the bevel or flat part) of the tile borders the electrical cutout there can be spaces between the tiles and the cover plate of the electric outlets. Seems there is no way to avoid this, but it does not look professional.

Its always gonna be better left, however it depends on the conditions usually the tiles set in the grout quickly and you can grout them. Remember though you are putting pressure on the tiles as you grout and if one is not quiet set it will move? its a risk you need to decide to take or not!

So that when you get to the edges of where you're tiling you'll have cut tiles that are the exact same width. It just makes it look symmetrical.

Hi Chris, great vid! About to start my second home tile job. Similar to what you have done here! The worktop is uneven and falls 5mm under the window like yours. Is ok to tile off an uneven surface? I was going to put a level batten on the wall and tile off that then cut the last row into the work surface (if you get me). We're tiling the window sill too so wont have an overhang like yours! Great vid though and I'll be watching this on repeat at the weekend! Thanks pal!

HI Chris, I am installing a countertop and then backsplash. I noticed when I place my countertop on, there is a gap towards the corner between the countertop and wall ranging from 1/4 inch to 1/2 inch. I plan on using subway tile much like this video. Will this gap cause a problem? If so, how do you think I should fix it? build the wall out with mud, scribe?
