once you got to the 2/3 height you should have cut the sheets into rows of three and then stick them in rows round the dome starting from the centre of the front opening and let the tile joints overlap more and more towards the back . the nearer the top reduce the strip to two rows then one

I have commercial ovens and regular adhesive never handles the high temperatures, so the tiles over the door always tend to fall right away. Do you use a special high temperature adhesive or how do you prepare ?

If I wanted to leave tiles off my wood oven, could I potentially stop after the smooth thinset layer? Or would you recommend the mortar being the exterior shell?

It looks awfully bumpy especially once the tile is on. Could have done a much better job prepping the surface to make it smooth before tiling. And should you not have used heat proof mortar?
