Excellent video. Years of towing experience under my belt and still learnt few tricks. That right turn into T junction was good one, ie shoulder inline with middle. Only complaint should've checked legs/stays up as part of walk around, ie good look under caravan.

I'm glad it was helpful! Fair point, I did miss that out. Checking that the steadies are raised is an easy thing to overlook.

@@the_trailer_lady maybe any diy maintenance, best way of getting the spare wheel out from under the caravan when you’ve had a puncture ?, or is it better to just keep the spare wheel inside the caravan ?, 👍.

Most informative Fliss! My question is: what is a safe speed to go round a roundabout towing ? Many thanks.
@the_trailer_ladyАй бұрын
I would approach slowly, 2nd gear, or even first. On the roundabout, you want to maintain a cautious speed and a distance from the vehicles in front so that you can stop safely. Roundabouts vary greatly in size, so putting a speed on it is impossible, but I will say, you should be a lot slower than if you were driving solo

What's your thoughts on car manufacturer's towing limits that are well above the cars kerb wieght example my rav4 can tow 2000kg but kerb wieght is less than 1800kg. I do stick to the rule of not towing more than the car's kerb wieght in fact current van is around 80% Just looking around at units on the roads there's many towing far too heavy vans for a safe match

Hi David. This is an excellent question that I think needs a detailed answer. Keep your eyes peeled for a short video in the coming days

Your noseweight information had one major flaw - you never mentioned MAXIMUMS. Your maximum noseweight is the lowest of: 1. Caravan hitch 2. Car 3. Tow bar
@the_trailer_ladyАй бұрын
Hi. Thanks for your comment. I didn't want to go into too much detail on noseweight in this video as there is a separate one in the editing suite now. You are correct, though, about noseweight. There are 4 figures to consider; caravan, hitch, car, and towbar. Keep watching for video on this coming soon
