How to trace bitmap Inkscape tutorial | Convert PNG image to Vector

Hello Laurie! I'm revisiting this tutorial again and I was just curious....is trace bitmap something that you can sort of "cheat" with when it comes to simple pen & ink line art, say, for a cartoon? At the end of the day, I think I am just being lazy with practicing with the good ol' bezier tool, but I feel there might be some practical application there.
