Yes for stock splits it's not the best tool. I prefer Portfolio Performance for that, which is also free but a bit more complex to use.

what about when one stock make a split? In yahoo finance is not appear the right amount of shares after from split. can we do something for that?

Hi there and good question. Didn't face this situation before, but had a quick Google and yes, it seems, while Yahoo will auto-update the new prices, you will manually have to adjust your respective amount of shares you own after the split. It's not ideal, but I guess since it's not connected to your broker, there is no other way. You could though try to export transactions from your broker and then import them into Yahoo Finance, that should save some time, depending on how many transactions and stocks it applies to, but I guess it's not happening that often. Hope it helps.

Thanks Eric and totally agreed for tax season it helps a lot and just in general to know how all your investments together are doing and then improve and learn from it going forward. Especially when these days we tend to have a number of brokers, banks and exchanges it’s a perfect way to keep an easy overview.

Found the answer on Quora. Thanks. Click “+” to Add a new lot. Supply all the info for your sale, but enter the number of shares as a negative number, by keying a minus sign. In the Cost Basis column put price per share at which you sold the stock. You’ll need to factor the Commission (per share) into the sale price for the auto-calcs to work properly for the Basis; but the share count will be correctly reduced. Add whatever info you need (like “Sold shares vs, Purchase of 3/15/16”) in the Comment column. Done.

Thanks a lot, if you want to record a sell you would just put a minus in front of the share and it will reduce your holding of that stock. Frankly though I moved away from manually doing this, prefer to just export it from my Broker and import it into Dividend Watch where I can see everything nice and neat. Cheers

Hi João, in reality not much difference more like personal preference. Whatever works better for you. I just think Yahoo Finance might be easier to use and set up than some sophisticated excel sheet. Plus I like that I have the app on my phone so I can easily see my portfolio while on the go. Cheers.

Hi there and thanks a lot. Yes, you are absolutely right, just put a minus amount in front of the number of shares you have sold and it will be deducted. It's not the perfect solution to track, but I still use it as a backup. I've now gone all-in on Portfolio Performance which is a free software and much more granular and detailed and I'll soon make a tutorial on that too. Happy investing🚀

Hi there and great question. You can easily do this by putting decimals. For example half a Bitcoin, you would put 0.5 or 0,5 depending on your region and it would take it as a fractional ownership. Same for fractional stocks instead of 1 Tesla share you can put 0.3 shares. Hope this helps.

Yes there is. Tap on the pencil emblem at the top of the screen, then tap on PORTFOLIO SETTINGS, then scroll down to the tab ‘TOTAL HOLDINGS’ and you have the option to include that portfolio or not.
