I use the MACD more though while I’m working my full time job. Watched an older guy throw a small $200 in blindly on AMC and he was down $58 within a few minutes. Sat him down and explained the MACD. Yes, narrowing of standard deviation of bands means consolidation due to lack of volatility. In other words a wedge or pennant is being formed on one of the time frames.

What people dont get here is that bollingerbands are a lagging indicator, which means they respond to rather than predict price changes, potentially informing you of changes after they've already happened.

Or or or, add a 200 ema and if it’s above only go for long positions. If it is below go for shorts only. Combine it with trendlines on the 1D and 4H and you’ve got expectations on when the trend will change.

Video: shows price extending from bands and says it’s a bad indicator of tops or bottoms. Chart displayed: shows profitability at every single occurrence of price extending from bands, especially the ones highlighted in the very video that said do not use.
