Trading options… We are going to be very basic in today's video.
So what is an option: An option is a contract giving the buyer the right, but not the obligation, to buy (in the case of a call) or sell (in the case of a put) the underlying asset at a specific price on or before a certain date.
Why trade options?
1. Hedge against a declining stock market to minimize losses.
2. Used to generate recurring income
3. Used for speculative purposes such as wagering on the direction of a stock
Now I am usually a long term investor and typically don’t speculate stocks.

I have a decent understanding on options. But going from Webull to Fidelity for option trading has me confused a bit. It’s mainly the “buy to close” and “sell to buy” Webull it’s either buy or sell and that’s it haha 😅 I loved this video though! Made me way more comfortable using the Fidelity platform now. Could you do a video for each type of options purchase? Buy a call...buy a put, etc. It was a bit confusing watching this video, as there is so much information. I am surprised Fidelity doesn't have a video library where we could get this information. It would be nice to have a step-by-step walk through.

Can you tell me what the buy to close is for? You are obligated to buy the shares when selling calls and puts because you received a premium.

@@lj4001 u can open a cash acct w webull & pretty much have unlimited day trades. Can only buy & sell calls & puts. No acct minimum. If u want to do more advanced options on webull u need to have a margin acct & that requires u to have a 2500$ min acct balance
