Thank you so much. What a wonderful exercise to build confidence, drive and fun for the dog while learning a great behaviour and as you say muscle memory. Thank you so much, I am so happy to have found your site.

This is a fascinating approach and I’m eager to try as I currently do two on two off but it doesn’t always work and I have been wanting to try running contact. What is the best way to transition from stopped contact to running contact and can I still trial while in transition? Of course I would not expect consistency at trial for some time if we continue to trial - I was thinking to do feo for trial exposure. During practice outside of trial, my dog does two on two off just fine and it’s only at trial that he doesn’t do consistent stopped contact.

@@joannelee3328 the reason 2 on 2 off doesn’t always transfer to a trial situation is because it puts a lot of stress on the front end and it’s uncomfortable for many breeds. Training your dog to run first and wrap the cone. Then train your dog to sit in the contact zone. Sitting requires they shift their weight back and off their front end. If you need to stop, this is how I train it. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aae5poiqqqyqmtUsi=mDLOypjEM0zFznvH

What verbal command are you giving your dog? 2o2o just isn’t working for us and I’m very intrigued by your video. Thanks for sharing it

When I train, I’m calling my dog to wrap the cone. My dogs developed muscle memory and shorten their stride in a trial. If you absolutely need to stop your dog, tell your dog to sit on the contact zone. Many dogs will not stop in a stand with 2o2o because it’s very stressful and damaging to the front end. In other words, it hurts. But, when you ask for a sit, they pull their weight back, and remove the stress from the front end.

If you must stop your dog on the contacts, I like this technique. kzbin.info/www/bejne/aae5poiqqqyqmtUsi=qhxd93ZoriwvYD1-
