How often should a person train with you before they should have your system down? I feel like if someone has been working with me on seven or more jobs and they still don't have my technique down or they just don't want to follow it they probably aren't good for my business. Should these people be given another chance or how long do you think it should take? My pet peeve is when I asked people to clean from top to bottom meaning starting with Vents and blinds but they just won't do it. They always want to start in the middle of the room and then it slows us down because they have to go back and get the dust from the vents and ceiling that lands on floors and surfaces😡

It very much depends on the person. After 1 week they should have a good working knowledge of your techniques. I would give them a second chance and explain to them why it is important to follow your techniques. They have to follow the way you train them. Ask them why they are doing it the way they are and depending on their answer "I like it this way" is a good indicator that they don't want to learn it the correct way. Remind them you pay them to do it your way. It should also be part of your job description. Let me know how you get on x

The Cleaning Coach thank you. I seem to have a better business relationship with people who trained and then go off on their own. I usually have my difficulty with the "helper" they become friendly with me and then start to feel like they can do what they want as long as it gets clean but I really do need systems to get this business where I wanted to be.

It's my pleasure. Yes, I agree with helpers. You have to have clear boundaries with them. Be strict with them and don't let them get away with anything otherwise, they will take advantage. x

I have found over the years that giving them a 1 month contract initially is the best way. If they dont cut it after this ...you just dont keep them. Always start the training with health and saftey. Have written risk assessments and get them to sign it. Then show them

So, I have an old friend I reconnected through fb and needed a helper for a mansion that I'm cleaning. She told me she really wants to help me, learn cleaning, and seemed very enthusiastic..... so there were red flags from the beginning, l was doing a deep cleaning for the mansion with my aunt and needed an extra hand so I told her to come along and she agreed. So that morning came and she texted me telling me she had to cancel because her daughter woke up with high fever. So my aunt and I were stuck deep cleaning the house by ourselves.... so I understood and decided to give her a second chance... so I told her I'd pick her up at a certain time and she said she'd be ready, I pick her up and had to wait in the car for another 10-15 minutes .... then we go to the mansion and she seemed like an eager learner . Then she tells me about this job that she applied and got hired, and then I was in shock because we talked about her staying with me and agreed she would go with me Thursdays to clean this house, and I let her answer a phone call from that manager... she said she told them about it and that hopefully they would let her take off those days to help me..... also I let her vacuum and showed her , and I made a mistake of not watching over her and so when she vacuumed she came and said she was done and I asked did you vacuum the kitchen and she said yes, and so I sent her upstairs to get started and I started to mop and noticed she had lied to me, the kitchen had a floor that did not seemed vacuumed.... so again red flag. After going home, the next day my vacuum was not working properly, it's a dyson vacuum and I'm wondering what did she do to it to break it and why didn't she tell me it wasn't working properly....the next week she told me she couldn't help me anymore because the job she applied for didn't let her take Thursdays off. But said she really does want to help me . All these red flags, Idk if I'm overreacting, or is she just not realible ?

You are definitely not over reacting! Just move on and find someone else. You will have a few bad workers before getting a really good one. Learn from this experience and move on. You are worth more and it’s your business and if she doesn’t respect that then she doesn’t deserve another chance. If she really wanted to help you then she would of!! Good luck, let me know how you get on xx
