Hi. I haven’t played horn since junior year of college and I graduated last year. Recently I rewatched this movie and thought, “wow I miss horn”. Watching this, following the music, and fingering along (best I can) really helped me remember what I love about symphonic horn. I really hope next summer I’ll be able to play in a community band of some sort because wow do I miss it. Thank you for this.

I'm a trumpet player who is a somewhat competent french horn/mellophone player as well. that pedal a at 4:16 shook my brain
@AndrewMerideth2 жыл бұрын
There's actually a note almost an octave lower. The opening has a Pedal C that we are playing (not notated here), and then there is a Bb at 4:05 that's harder to hear. The low As you are referring to are played by both of us stopped and muted (I used a wood and metal stop mute) and I basically said to Marc that we should just blast it to mimic the war horns from the sound track

Whoever did the transcriptions for this missed a bunch of notes from the ACTUAL French Horn and Trumpet parts
@AndrewMerideth Жыл бұрын
None of the videos here on this channel are the "actual" horn/trumpet parts. This is an arrangement, not a transcription, so some parts are altered, like playing the trombone line when the horns are resting or have boring repeated notes, or the male chorus line instead of resting or the single line that's in the horns. No parts were "missed" just left out in favor of a different melodic line. For the trumpets, I think I used pretty much the whole trumpet part (going off of memory from a year and half ago when I did this), just changed static notes to woodwind and string runs. It's also worth noting we recorded more than what is shown in the video, that's just what marc thought best for the video production side
