Doing all your deadlift warm-ups double over hand with a short hold at the top helps quite a bit.

Good little run down. For the beginners out there, the Rolling Thunder is the most well known rolling thick handle, but it's also got the worst rolling action of them all. Get something like the FBBC Crusher or Arm Assassin One Hand Nightmare for a much better rolling action on your thick bar handle.

This channel deserves way more subscribers! I love the educational content, keep it up... and maybe add in some food challenges now and then for the views ;)

Food challenges are scraping the bottom of the content barrel. Embarrassing.

How often can someone in their mid-forties, without ever taking any performance enhancing substances, and only a few months into grip training actual train grip?

With grip, hanging from a fat bar in pull up, chin up and neutral mode really help with grip and wrist strength. Looking back on it some might find it more beneficial to hand with just two or three fingers at a time, or hang from the bar with a pinch grip too.

I just started doing some grip-specific stuff this year and it’s somehow addictive. Really like plate pinches for reps, resetting the grip between each rep. That seems to smoke my thumbs & pinkies!

I'd definitely add in some pinch grip either with plates or with a block (just making a wooden block will do) as these probably have the most benefit to strongman events overall as they help with many events (including stones and sandbag carries). Honestly I'd ditch the rolling thunder and wrist rolls, although these might blow your forearms up like crazy they actually don't carry over all that well to anything. For crush grip I would add in hangs from towels or ropes as this is going to carry over more to truck pulls and arm over arm pulls than grippers though grippers will have some carry over too. Dead hangs definitely a great thing, fat gripz for sure too. Just plain double overhand barbell deadlifts are great. Extensor work is worthwhile and something called a ttk targets thumbs like nothing else can build a wooden one very easily for next to nothing.

Thanks for the advise, I also found that when it came to thumbs, hitchhiking was of a benefit.

Would love to see you get certified on a CoC #3 Bish, probably wouldn't take too much specific training for you to do it! You could probably do the Crushed To Dust Challenge right now i'd imagine, get a cool certificate for the wall if nothing else haha! Would love to see more grip content 👍🏻

My cheap dumbbells at home feel narrower than the heavier ones at the gym, so I think I will try out the Fat Grips. ( I was thinking about putting handle bar tape around them)

I have some cheap adjustables with very narrow handels. The fat grips make a big difference makes it easier to press with them

You might not be able to hook grip everything, but is it legal? would imagine it would help on the hercules hold
@adambishopstrongman44713 жыл бұрын
Yes it would be allowed however most of the time the handles we use on Hercules hold or farmers walk are around 32mm so hook grip is not a viable option unless you have freaky long fingers.

It seems like older strongmen always have great grip too, must be something that is acquired over many years of training.

Could be that the forearm is very tendony. Tendons take a long time to strengthen and grow no matter what supplements you use

Bish, would using crushers outside not training sessions to add volume be beneficial, when sat watching TV for example. Or is that time better spent resting your hands/arms.
@dakotalepage61343 жыл бұрын
I've done this. In my opinion it helps. My hands got smidge thicker and for sure stronger. humans have been needing to use hands everyday since the beginning of time I've always thought.

What do you mean by crushers? Do you mean the crush grippers like COC or do you mean the FBBC crusher?
