How to Transfer a Domain from GoDaddy to Cloudflare (Use Cloudflare as Your Domain Registrar!)

In this video we will walk through the process of transferring a domain name that is currently on GoDaddy, to Cloudflare, where we will be able to take advantage of Cloudflare's super-low domain renewal pricing through the Cloudflare registrar: www.cloudflare.com/products/r...
There are a few reasons why I really like Cloudflare, and a lot of reasons why I prefer not to use GoDaddy. You can learn all about why in this video, where I compare GoDaddy and Namecheap, and have a shout-out to Cloudflare in this video as well. In short: If you're looking for the cheapest way to renew your domains year after year, Cloudflare is your best bet (and no... before you ask ... I don't make any money by recommending them to you - this is what I use for my own domains!)
The instructions in this video will help someone who is trying to transfer their domain to a registrar that is NOT Cloudflare, as well, but you'll probably have to skip the part of the video where I change the nameservers - that section is Cloudflare-specific.

One step left out was unlocking the domain on Godaddy. If you don't do that the transfer won't take place. And some of the interfaces in godaddy have changed since this video was made. Some are in beta that allow you to switch back to the old interfaces. Then you can follow the video. But once godaddy takes them out of beta and makes them permanent, this video will be obsolete. Hope Wiyre makes a new one then.

Question: If the domain is forwarded to another URL, do I have to make that change inside CloudFlare once it's moved over? Or will that forward be carried over in the transfer process? I'm aware that the domain you move in this video doesn't have anything on it, so I'm wondering if I need to do something else if the domain is active with content and/or forwarded to a different URL. Hello my friend, do not laugh at me. I have currently 150 (!) domains on godaddy. Now i want to move ALL ... do you recommend cloudflare? I use a lot of Wordpress and want to sell some.. whois protection free is good... and I do not lose the time of registry etc. Any downsides? CDN will be good right, I am just confused why you recommend namecheap in description not Cloudflare

I am sorry you are stuck at GoDaddy! Luckily, Cloudflare will save you LOTS of money in renewal fees. WHOIS protection is included at Cloudflare: developers.cloudflare.com/registrar/domain-registration/whois-redaction It will take time, but it will be worth it.

connect your current registrar and ask them to explain what's wrong, They have to explain any specific question that customers have, Hope it helps it works for me.

Not unless you buy a plan, but you don't need to. You keep the cloudflare DNS and your host links to the cloudflare account, then you get all the great stuff that Cloudflare gives you for free.

Typically, transferring also renews your domain for another year, though exceptions exist.
