Helpful step by step guide for Pension investors. Vanguard have a great product, though it’s worth noting that the 0.80% for financial advice isn’t a cut price offer like their index funds. Especially for restricted advice.

We’re currently paying 1.5% in fees on our pensions and I’ve been thinking about moving to Vanguard for a few weeks now because of these low fees and their track record on my ISA. This has given me a further incentive to push it forward so thank you :)

I transferred our pensions to Vanguard last night. Really straight forward, so far anyway! I’ve place us both on Global Index Funds at a fee of 0.22% each which is a huge improvement.

Perfect. You answered my question. Found an old pension with a previous employer last night with £2400 in it. I wanted to switch it to Vanguard but wasn't sure if I was committing to £100 a month. I thought it was fine as a lump sum to then add to when required and you confirmed that thanks. (I have read the vanguard T's and C's and I'm not taking your opinion as financial advice ;) ). Its important to mention that you CANNOT transfer your 'current' workplace pension onto the Vanguard platform if your employer contributes to your pension. Your employer cannot pay into the Vanguard pension.

Hi Jennifer, stumbled on your channel and really like your no nonsense content, I'm considering the Vanguard SIPP to consolidate 2 of my previous workplace pensions (Scottish Widows and L&G), i also contribute (10% salary sacrifice and 40% earner) to my current Company workplace pension. I know that Vanguard don't charge for their effort put in on a pension transfer, but what about the source pension holder? I surmise they will be applying charges (since they'll have admin work to do). People talk about getting a pensions advisor to facilitate a transfer - with Vanguard I guess we are saving the cost of that? Also, isn't there some regulation about getting financial advice for pensions over £30,000 before you transfer?

I think if you paid £100 in a pension, you would get £25 tax relief.

I Believe it is exactly the same funds in their ISA/General account as the pension. You can pick as many funds as you wish, absolutely.

Much better to look at whole of market options in comparison to Vanguard otherwise you are restricted to only Vanguard funds.

Hi Jennifer.. I have a pension with an old employer (about 70k), I read somewhere you need to get an IFA to sign off any larger pension into a SIPP (Im also a company director). Id be more than happy to let vanguard do the move/talk to the other provider.. how do I initiate this through vanguard? (thanks :))

No loss showing on my accounts but I'm guessing it could have been drops in some of the basic tracker funds the past week (S&P500 dropping lower for example) - if you have questions on that type of situation though with your account, best to speak to Vanguard directly through their customer care team.

Depends on what your Will will say, but usually it is given to Spouse unless you have details in Will to show division another way.

@@JenniferAMThomson . Oh that's good, it's just a lot of people I've spoken to tell me that I wouldn't get the full amount of my wife's pension if she dies. I know my dad didn't get the full amount of my mum's pension. I thought maybe it would be 60% or something like that.

Given that the stock market has gone down on average 18% this year overall, I would say that the great thing about Pensions is you won't cash it/need it until retirement age. Nothing lost until you cash it out as income.

Hi Jennifer. Thank you so much for this video. LIke yourself, I am in a similar position in regards to planning to transfer funds from Pension Bee into a SIPP with Vanguard. Going back to what you said about the pension transfer acting as a lump sum, does that mean then I don't ever have to make £100 monthly contributions if I don't want to?

I'm having trouble transferring a pension to vanguard when I try a few day's later a get a message saying I've entered the wrong account number I then ring the provider they assure me the number is correct then I apply for the transfer again and the whole thing starts over again ...very frustrating any advice ?
