Came back here to say thankyou. Since Quokka arrived,I'm doing less sample based melody,but this tutorial helped a lot in the past.😊

Resampling single cycles is really useful for creating a range of sounds to build a track from. I tend to use a single cycle hits as the initial source, then I hold a note on for a decent amount of time (depends on what sound I'm after, obviously) to create single notes that I then either put in a choke group to make monophonic (for basses, for example) or play across the keyboard as poly patches. I suppose there's nothing stopping me making them into single waveforms themselves, but I don't tend to as I often resample with delay and reverb so want to retain the tails of the sound when I play them back. Resampling something an octave or two higher than you want to use it is fun, especially if you put vibrato on it or other time based effects as you get a much slower modulation on the sound than what is possible usually

Koala should really introduce some modulation, LFOs and/or parameter automation. That would be really dope to use along with the waveforms.

They’ve added an effects bus for lfos,filters and other effects not too long ago that work great with this technique.

oops!! what a cool technique! the other day here at home I spent that video of yours of the model doing a photo session inside the pool for my wife to see, without the music, then I came back and put it on with the music, she found it agonizing I couldn't watch the video because I had the feeling she was drowning, I was amazed at her reaction, and as your sound has the power to convey sensation, your sound is a different sound that causes a reaction, too top!!! here we are admirers of her sound!!

You can make a plucked sound using a compressor insert effect in the mixer: turn up the volume on the sample a bit, max out the attack (on the compressor , not the sample) and use a moderately strong ratio. I’ve found setting the threshold to about-24dB and ratio of about 10 makes a nice plucky sound with these one shots.

Not bad. Plus, you can mix samples, or connect end to end, resample, time stretch, repeat and rinse.

Thank you for this video! Where did you find your single cycle waveforms? I looked into the adventure kit but only found percussion samples
@sevenape Жыл бұрын
No worries! They are here, you gotta loop them to get the tones properly, otherwise they just click. www.adventurekid.se/akrt/waveforms/adventure-kid-waveforms/

@@sevenape thank you! I was on the wrong page: i googled adventure kit while i should have looked for adventure kid 😅 I found the synths and it's a blast to use ❤️

I create loops of long samples to play along with other loops of long samples to make music. I dont really use the other "features". All on my 2 Android devices. I dont own, nor will I ever own, anything Apple. Just sayin'.
@sevenape2 жыл бұрын
I mostly use loops too! Apple is very convenient, but i would be happy with koala if I did switch to android in the future! Apple has drambo though… and that thing is intense.
