Your recent snow owl trap was one of the easiest lvl 154 owl tames I ve ever had. I ve been using the argentavis double doorframe trap you ve shown since forever; even coming up with a similar design for Baryonix mostly on my own. The way you showcase every design makes you easily the best Ark trapper on the internet, since I ve searched a lot until I finally found you. I can imagine this trap really being worth gold, because my friend recently tamed a Managarmr in ASA and called the overall experience "hell", but whenever using either one of your traps, it just turns my taming run into a cakewalk. Our group is a few casuals that play some PVE together on their server. though it s funny, since over the years, I ve been always known as the guy to ask if there are cheaper, better; or especially with ASA and DLC releases -- newer traps. To the point where I taught the guy who got new into ark about the argentavis one, or how you can easily use a set of pillars for cover or even trap basically anything, making you the apex predator as long as you don t run out of arrows haha I think everyone I know that plays Ark found your channel by now, rightfully, after I basically spam every single new video into chat. I will never forget how you inspired me with your video that was about - basically spawn into slingshot into rex tame with a thatch trap. When ASA came out I absolutely blew everyones mind when I tamed a lvl 7 spino as a lvl 12 with nothing but a few wood pillars and a chest full of rocks and slingshots, whilst everyone else was basically greeding to bola a parasaur. This must have been the intention of wildcard putting a spino spawn directly next to multiple of the players easy locations and up to this day I pray that they never remove or "fix" this. xd How come your channelname be captain"dog", when all you do is publish fat-W's.

It's actually crazy. I don't think they have done it on purpose, I think it's something to do with the ASA dino AI. Hopefully they change it though.

best way i found it so try snow owl freeze them out of the air by kind of landing on them with it, then just spam dino gates above it until it cant go anywhere

whenever I play extinction in ASE, for whatever reason, I always got jumpscared by wild manas landing and clinging onto the side of my quetsal platform saddle whenever i use a quetsal in the area and they just hang there (still agressive, but they stay on the platforms a bit longer than on the ground for whatever reason.)

Haha. I did what I could with modded versions of the creatures ported from ASE. Had to make some modifications though so I was just working hard on them all day.

We tried yesterday and it's not worth your time. They have more chance getting randomly stuck in the air then you freezing it with how random and fast they are, they don't even stay on the ground for a second. Not to mention they still have a decent chance of gliching out, one even went underground. So a trap like this with foundations and all is probably way better.

What impact does render distance have?

@captainfatdog Currently on official, creatures render at 50M roughly and Render out at 75M. Manas tend to jump up to 100-200M or even more, thus getting stucked in the air or a glitch floating state where they float away. Until they eventually reach the death zone.

does he have to jump in there? or you can make him follow you and you WALK him into the trap? i know he jumps a lot, but at least in ASE he would also have short phases of like 5-7 sec where he just runs after you and meeles you. Also eating a rare flower helped sooo much to get his attention and prevent manas to suicide dive into 3 mammoth.

They don't have those short phases of walking on ASA. I don't think they changed anything with the creature, I think it's something to do with the dino AI that's changed them.

I love all of your traps, but this one, at least in my experience, is difficult to use. Not because of the patience thing, but it feels like by the time I have it set up, the Managarmr is already long gone or dead because it aggro'd an ovis :(

If you get aggro on your character as opposed to your tame, they don't tend to go after other creatures.

Almost impossible to tame on pve. Won't find a spot that's not claimed to set up the trap. They're extremely buggy as well.... WC is so pathetic

I just freeze them with my Owl, then build Dino Gates over them. You can do this during the freezing, when using your hotbar.
