HOW TO TRAVEL WITH MAKEUP! (CARRY-ON)

¡Hola mi gente! In today's video I talk about how to travel with makeup on your carry on! I recently flew to PR and back home with ONLY my carry on. I almost panicked because I had no clue how to travel with makeup on my carry on, specifically my liquids and creams, since I use to pack them on my checked bag to not go through "the headache", but since I had to learn, I did some research and I figured it out! It's actually pretty simple and PROVEN that it works, since I didn't get any of my items "confiscated". I can't wait to show you how I did it!

yay!! travelling with makeup can be such a hassle! I always carry it with me on the plane now because the ONE time I didnt..something broke (along with my heart lmao). If you have the little sample containers from sephora/nordstrom I always put my foundation in there when I travel so that I have even more room!

Last time I traveled (overseas/international flight and/or DR jiji), a few months ago now, I simply bought a Target TSA approved clear plastic bag & I actually used its bottled containers to place my liquid products in (poured in & labeled with sticky labels: I even tried not to fill it completely in case of anything 😂 I always had the worst luck back then unfortunately- so I was precautious but we try using their knowledge tips😂😝). Thankfully it worked perfectly fine, I kept it in my carry-on bag and into their x-ray machines, it was perfectly doable. I actually had makeup in a small purse inside a purse (personal item) & that thankfully worked fine too. Though, I wanted to bring so much more and left it at home cause there was no more checked luggage space 😂 (really helpful when traveling as a family). - And we were out of time anyway; headed to the airport stat lol.’ Though, this definitely would help in a next trip. I remember being surprised seeing my guy cousin pack all his travel sized Scentbird perfumes and even certain travel size liquids lmao in a baggie too… [similar as the video] Like ?? I didn’t realize that was allowed. 🤣😂 Real helpful, I’ll try to use this for the liquids (there’s toiletry bags with multi-clear quartz zippered space: counts as one), into my carry-on. - And, the same step as before with the purse inside a purse as a personal item. ❤

Yes, of course you can. Make sure to follow the 3-1-1 rule. You’ll only have to remove items from purse when going through TSA for inspection.

I’m a little slow so quick question, the makeup can be any size? As long as it fits in that bag? My foundation is about 5.75 oz is that fine?

Any liquid makeup (individual items) should be no bigger then 3.4onz. even if it fits in the bag. Your foundation is more then 3.4 so it wouldn’t follow the 3-1-1 rule. You could scoop some to a smaller container/bottle to comply. Hope this helps and safe travels! ☺️

Liquids are only part of the rule, including toiletries. Powders and palettes can be carried as you wish.

Hey, really helpful video, im traveling for a few days to Barcelona and was panicking about takinh makeup so did you pack your mascara in that bag aswell and what about your toiletries like shower gel and shampoo etc?

I dnt take that much, since I stay at mom’s when i travel and use most of what she has. But if i had too, i’d put it all in the same bag, only combine with the makeup that needs to follow tsa guidelines (ej liquid foundation). *you can add mascara too to be safe; I would set another makeup up bag with powders and such.

You can take on carry-on, which I prefer to avoid any damage. I just flew from FL to PR with about 7 palettes all different sizes, no issues.

I have questions 😭😩 so I’m traveling out of the country with only a carry on since I’m only staying for a bit I was wondering is it 3.4 ounces total for all my liquid items or it’s 3.4 per item limit ? And does eyebrow gel count as liquid ? Also my husband had gel inside his bag not a clear bag and he didn’t take it out at check out and no one said anything can I keep the bag inside my carry on or should I take it out and put it in bin?

It’s 3.4 onz per item, they should all fit in a clear 1qtr bag and the limit is per person (3-1-1). If its not in solid form (can move around in the container) consider it liquid. TSA does ask you to take this bag out and place it on its own for inspection. I’m no expert, but I believe if not done correctly you’ll be pulled aside for entire bag inspection for suspicious items, and if it does not follow guidelines items will be confiscated. I traveled not too long ago with Father in law, his body wash got taken away.

Yep. Only makeup in liquid form has this restriction and should follow TSA guidelines, every other makeup item is ok to take in carry on, and not subject to inspection.

Basically, yes. I read recently they have a 12onz powder restriction (and I’m guessing they mean loose powder), but most makeup products are waaay below that treshold, I’m sure you’ll be ok. With that said, I havent had to take my powder makeup out for inspection so far.

You can pack those as you wish, I made sure powders were in my carry on so they don’t break. I would take another makeup bag and store them together. You don’t need to take them out for inspection.

Carry On means the bag/suit case you take with you on the plane; it goes through TSA inspection.

You’ll be taking it out of your carryon and placing the transparent bag in a seperate container. That’s why I recommend to have it on top of all your things inside the carryon, so it’s easy to take out.

TSA only allows 1 quart size bag with liquids no larger then 3.4onz/100ml per person so if you’re taking any toiletries I’d add them altogether to same bag. Remember the 3-1-1 rule applies to liquids only, all other makeup can be stored as you wish. ☺️

I know razors shouldn’t go through as it can be considered a weapon. So in all honesty I dnt take it with me. I’d only put it in a checked bag.

I’m pretty sure it’s ok, you’ll just have to remove any items that are in liquid form and place on separate tray (ideally they should be on a clear plastic bag that’s not larger than 1qt size, it can even be in a ziploc bag). If you have a few items in liquid form I’d suggest to keep them together.

The one time I took an eyeshadow pallet on carry on bag they made me switch it to my checked bag now I just can't trust that the same won't happen again
