Increase in temperature and humidity causes a lot of us to sweat and for some, this can lead to BODY ODOR. In this video I will talk about, what causes it and how to treat body odor.
It's not as simple as many might think it is, there are other reasons for having smelly sweat other than poor hygiene. Check out this video if you are curious to know what they are and if you want to know what can be done to address it.

battling bo since elementary. usually get picked on and people talk behind my back because of it. It really affected my confidence that it contributed to why I shifted courses and change school since a lot of them noticed already. sNakakahiya ang condition ko and people don’t know how much pain I carry everyday because of it. I bathe everyday and make sure my clothes are washed well (I hand wash them myself) but the odor is still there. My actions are restricted kasi konting kilos, I sweat and it develops odor. I’m really worried that it’s going to affect me when I work in a corporate setting 😬😬 I spend my baon on different products and remedies (it cost a looot) but still it doesn’t control the bo and sweating. I read an article how to get rid BO, which it says, you just have to sweat a lot so it will come out your sweat and BO. but you have to drink a lot of water to replenish your body with new and clean water so it will not smell it anymore.

I've been struggling with this since my puberty hits. Really making my highschool life so sad because I'm too scared to socialize kasi masyado akong conscious kung nangangamoy ba ako dahil may mga time rin talagang feeling ko naaamoy ako ng friends ko. Base din sa observation ko natrigger yung apocrine glands sa pag secret ng b.o dahil sa mga food triggers (red meat,onion, dairy products,etc.), stress and hormone changes lalo na pag malapit na period ko. Those are the things that may trigger my apocrine bromhidrosis or yung axillary osmidrosis (underarm odor)

Hi Doc, I have bladder issues po for almost 7 years. And I noticed na nagkakaron din ako ng B.O everytime na nagpapawis ako. I take a bath po everyday, madalas twice a day pa. I'm really having a hard time po kung paano ito matatanggal, marami na din po ako natry na products pero I think po na this is connected sa aking bladder issues and the medicines I take which led to constipation

I recommend a consultation with a urologist for your bladder issues and a gastro-enterologist for your constipation. They will be able to determine is there is a correlation between one or both of them and your BO.

I have hyperhydrosis so I try to take care of sensitive areas as much as possible in order to avoid B.O. When I was younger, it made me very very conscious to the point where my parents thought I was a lesbian for some time because I'm not very enthusiastic to get a boyfriend as much as the other teenage girls did. Well, at that time in my head, I thought suitors or a boyfriend would hold my hand and find it sweaty and they'd dump me because it would disgust them. I never told anyone because I was insecure. Many people think that if you're sweaty, you have B.O. and that just freezes me up.

@@DivaDen I've mafe some afjustments to my lifestyle since then. The best thing to fo is be honest to the people around you, hyperhydrosis is harder to hanfle when you keep it a secret. I'm a woman and most of ny friends are women too so they are more clingy and touchy, I just tell them "please don't cling to me to much, it making me sweaty". I always carry handkerchief so i can wipe it off whenever. I buy footware that lets my feet breathe, like sandals with non-plastic soles because they get slippery when my feet gets sweaty. I live in a country where summer are long so I carry around eiyher an electric handheld fan of just the folded fan depending on where I have to go. Buy comfortable clothes. It is very important to be informed what hyperhydrosis is, how my body reacts to temperature, stress and personally be aware of those and how to help myself adjust. There are no instant solution. I'd just tell myself to read more about it and not ignore it, accept that I have to live with it.

Doc, thanks po sa pag share ng info na to. I think meron din po akong apocrine bromhidrosis. Sobrang nag struggle ako sa condition lalo na dito sa PH parang kulang sa awareness about sa condition na to. I do experience anxiety, depression and low self-esteem. Good Afternoon Doc. I hope you can help me get rid of my underarm BO because it affects me a lot. I lose confidence. I'm afraid to side with others. I always feel that they smell my BO and talk about it behind my back to make fun of me, but if they only knew how I suffer to get rid of it. I do a lot to get rid of it, but everything I do does'nt help me to get rid of it. I usually had a BO when I was in elementary, but I got rid of it because I used tawas and I really don't smell. I sweat a lot in my underarms, but it never smelled because I used tawas, but after I turned 18, and after a few months, I noticed a bad odor tinkling in my underarms. Even though I use tawa, I smell my BO and it is embarrassing. I try to use deodorant, but none of them work because my underarms stink when I sweat. Way back when I was in elementary until I turned 18, the reason why I use Tawas is because it's effective for me to get rid of my underarm odor and the reason why I don't use any other deodorant like Rexona or Dove is because it's not effective for me because when I use it and after a minute I sweat, my underarm still stinks. I don't know what deodorant to use to get rid of this because no product is effective in my underarm area. I'm in my second year of college right now, and we're having a face-to-face. I feel so stressed because I sweat a lot and smell really bad. I don't know what to do. Please help me, doc.

Akira,you and I have similar situations! I first started experiencing underarm odor in middle school.Try using liquid chlorophyll, and drinking more water.Use antibacterial soap under your arms,and scrub.The deodorant that helped me the most,is OldSpice Wolfthorne.Also,try to visit dermatologist to see if you have an overgrowth of bacteria, or check your thyroid to see if this is why you are overheating. Best to ask a surgeon with regards to the price, its not something i do :) but usually after 2-3 surgeries, the resulta should be permanent

Hi po Doc. Paano po kaya yung sa case ko maaga po kasi akong nagka BO. That time una pong pinagamit sakin is calamansi then later on nalang po ako gumamit ng deo na unfortunately darkened my underarm. Ngayon po lalo pag summer kahit nasa air-conditioned room ako (maybe kinakabahan or stressed) pinagpapawisan padin ua ko. To the point kasi na nilalamig nako so naka jacket nako but my ua is sweating at may BO. Ive tried a lot of deo na din po kasi pero once pinagpawisan nako parang nawash away lang din sila kaya minsan i use driclor pa no sweat talaga.

Hi doc may antibacterial soap po ba kayong marerecommend na gentle sa underarm at the same time can be used to whole body and how to properly clean your underarm after gumamit ng deo.

In general, all soaps naman can remove microbes in your underarms. Choose lng siguro ung mejo hindi matapang and neutral pH -- dove sensitive, cetaphil antibacterial bar, oilatum, safegaurd dermasense etc. As for antiperspirants, i recommend aluminum chloride and to apply it on ur anderarms at bedtime, para least active ung sweat glands mo.

It is recommended to put antiperspirant at bedtime - by definition antiperspirants (eg alum chloride) work by blocking the sweat glands kaya mas effective sila pag less active ung sweat glands mo. Deodorants naman work by masking the odor. So pwedeng antiperspirant at bedtime and deo in the morning :)

Benzoyl peroxide is one but be careful as it can stain clothing :) u can opt to use the one in wash form para hindi mamantsahan ung mga damit mo. Also very important to make sure clothes are properly washed because bacteria can remain in them and pag pinagpawisan ka pwede dn mag ka smell.

Maraming ok na brands but look for antiperspirants containing aluminum chloride. If you are sensitive opt for those containing not too many ingredients or ung fragrance-free. Most of the time, trial and error din talaga. Ako personally I use dove ung walang scent na stick or roll-on.

U can try using antibacterial soaps or bezoyl peroxide washes, also look for ingredientslike aluminum chloride in ur antiperspirant and use it at bedtime:) if hindi parin mag work, consult ka na with a dermatologist:)

Deodorants just mask the odor. Kapag nag mix sa sweat medjo off ang amoy. Use anti-perspirant instead at night. I suggest strong ones like drysol or driclor at night. Wash pits with BP wash or wipe with hydrogen peroxide regularly. What produces odor is the bacteria eating the sweat. No sweat = no odor, no bacteria = no odor. Tried everything before and this is the one that worked really well. Try mo din bioderm ointment/ zinc oxide lotion.

Hmmm baka sa clothes mo. Sometimes pag hindi nahuhugasan ng mabuti ung mga damit, especially sa underarm area, ung bacteria na naiwan when it gets in contact with your sweat nangangamoy cya. If hindi parin, best to consult or get treatment for excessive sweating.

Fishy odor syndrome is called Trimethylaminuria (TMAU) -- it's a metabolic deficiency from your body's inability to make the enzyme flavin-containing monooxygenase 3 (FMO3) which metabolizes thimethylamine. I recommend a consultation with an internist or an endocrinologist and nutritionist.

For some emotional stress or excessive alcohol consumption, sometimes because of heat, in those undergoing menopause.. all of these can trigger excessive sweating, but for some there is no obvious reason or underlying medical condition. If conventional antiperpirants dont work you might want to consider procedures such as botulinum toxin injection or lipocurettage.
