ABOUT TODAYS VIDEO: How To Treat Mange In Dogs Naturally
There's two types of mange, demodectic mange and sarcoptic mange. Both involve mites that live within your dogs skin and on the surface of the skin and vets will take a skin scrape to determine which of the mites is present.
In the case of demodectic mange, the mites that normally live in balanced numbers not harmful to your dog and deep within the skin, break out into large numbers, causing baldness and great irritation as hair falls out to leave your best friend in an ugly and uncomfortable way.
So how do you fix the problem before it gets really out of control and avoid toxic and destructive veterinary drugs like dips, steroids and antibiotics?
In both instances it's natures neem oil to the rescue.
Neem oil is one of the best bug killers you can use and is a natural holistic essential oil. It will kill everything from fleas, ticks, ringworm and lice to mange mites. It's also very healthy for skin and hair.
I've been using neem oil on fleas, ticks, mites and lice for nearly 20 years and it's been 100% successful every time.
If your dog has generalized demodectic mange, or has patches of sarcoptic mange mites or ringworm, use pure neem oil, but don't use it neat, especially if your dog has cracked or open skin, weeping sores etc. Neem oil is very concentrated and needs to be diluted with a carrier oil.
Dilute neem oil at a light starting regimen of 1:10 (1 part neem oil to 10 parts carrier oil) with a light carrier oil (e.g. grape seed oil or almond oil). Mix well and then massage the oil mixture into the skin over the affected area. You can apply it daily on problem spots.
For dogs hot spots, infected bug bites or when treating demodectic and sarcoptic mange and ringworm, it's possible to increase the neem oil concentration to a 1:4 ratio (1 part neem oil to 4 parts carrier oil).

Dr. Dan, just have to say thank you again! last year a vet wanted to charge me $1000 for antibiotics, an anti parasite, steroids,and allergy medicine, just throwing the kitchen sink at my dog for a yeast infection. which antibiotics would’ve made worse! After a little research, even I figured that out. She’s all good now thanks to your advice!! Keep making your videos, please, thank you thank you, thank you!!❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

One of my dogs had mites. It took a long time to get rid of it. Diatomaceous Earth was the way. If your dogs skin isnt dried out ,yet, it will. Shake the DE powder all over every part, including the legs, paws and head. Leave it on for 2 or 3 days, remove it by brushing or a bath. Repeat until they are gone. The mites dont like lemons. Squeeze a few lemons and rub the juice o n your dog.

I knew my 4 month old puppy had mange, bald fur around eyes and a few bare patches of fur on legs, not intensely itchy. So I went to the vet. He told me it was not mange but I was just bathing dog too often (three times a month). I wasn’t going to get through to him that I have had mange in other puppies and this is the typical manifestation of demadex mange. I then came on here and found this video. I applied neem oil three times, each a week apart. It absolutely works. It probably worked the first time but because of the life cycle of mites I figured it’s best to do it for three weeks. No more itching, hair growing back. I was very nervous about putting it near his eyes but I read on here others did. Thankfully it didn’t hurt him and now he doesn’t look crazy anymore. 😂 I soaked him in this stuff. He’s 50lbs and so I used a ton of grapeseed oil 16oz mixed w 8oz of neem oil. I did a 2 to 1 ratio. After he was completely soaked I crated him for the night. I’m so thankful this worked.

@@Yorkshireguycooks The pup in question was 4 months old and they went ahead and did 2:1 of their own volition, not my recommendation normally, unless circunstances call for it ( I tend to be conservative). But at 4 months, the pups robust enough for 2:1. So a young 8 week old pup with mange, I say 10:1 as good conservative start and if it's not enough to work, but should work, then go to 4:1.

Allow the dog time off from meds for a few days first, even a fast to help clearout the system before using more remedies. Did you say scabies? CURED. GONE FOREVER NEVER TO RETURN: I sprayed 3% hydrogen peroxide on my infected area every day, sometimes 2 times a day & snap, crackle, pop & fizz~ oh what a relief it was~5 days later my self diagnosed scabies horrendous & horrendously itchy alleged "eczema" that no dermatologist, medication could cure misery was completely, absolutely gone without a trace! I'm telling you, My skin was restored to a new born baby's skin. It was a miracle!!! After I became a massage therapist. I developed a wicked "rash" on my fingers & forearms. The insane itch almost drove me insane but I resisted the scratch with all my might. Doctor's, antibiotics, cream's, lotions, potion's, prayer's didn't stop it. Year's passed. I was beside myself. One day, out of the blue, i was compelled to spray peroxide on my arms & hands. End of story. Saved my career & my sanity. It's now my best friend.

Vaccs, vet drugs and commercial pet food additives dont help. Mostly proteins such as eggs, meats, sardines really help and as raw as possible so undercook. I recommend just part cooking and blending the veg for best digestion. Add a good soil based probiotic: amzn.to/3yoURqU They work best, improve digestion and health. Yes the book has all the answers: healthydogforlife.com/feed-your-dog-better-book-by-dan-scott/ You'll love the Healthier Kibble Diet.

I've sprayed and sprayed,and sprayed, different chemicals, bombed the house, bathed the digs, put topical and feed through flesh control, washed their bedding, my clothes and my bedding 3 times in dog flea and tick shampoo with an igr before drying 70 min in a hot hot dryer. Still get covered up on the yard. 😢 done it every 2 weeks, every 10 days. Im about to burn the yard!!!

Oh the despair, I feel for you. I'd use neem oil as contact with the flea means death over 24 hrs but safe on animals/humans and natural. You could get a large spray bottle or the one you have currently, add 3 parts neem oil, 1 part liquid soap and the rest warm water, shake and spray everywhere but do it in the evening as you'll also kill bees and in th evening they've gone home. So if the sprayer was 1 gallon, that's 6 Tblesp neem oil, 2 Tblesp liquid soap, the rest warm water. Neem oil: amzn.to/3iV0Igq Kills fleas/ticks/mozzies/lice. Can also soak a bandana in neat neem oil and use as a collar on the dog in the yard. If spraying in the house, be carefull as neem is an oil, might be issues cleaning up and it's a bit smelly, sort of garlicky/nutty smelling but you can add a few drops of either Lavender, chamomile, cedarwood, peppermint, and frankincense oil are all safe for dogs. For in the house, Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade - amzn.to/3D9KEiR can be spread lightly everywhere, left 24hrs then vaccumed up. This dessicates the fleas. Best of luck (otherwise it's a flamethrower, lol)

It will remove mites, let it soak in, superb for this. After allowing it to soak in to get to deeply burried mites ( a few hours) wash off with gentle soap like this one: Oatmeal Pet Wash: amzn.to/3CYUBjw The neem oil, at the same time as stopping mites, nourishes the skin. Yes, safe to lick. I was using it myself just yesterday.

Reads like demodectic mange. This will solve that problem but look for it's underlying reason. Could be low quality diet with no fresh food in it. This remedy does soak in and kill mange mites en masse. Mix 1:3, one part neem oil to 3 parts carrier oil, mix and rub in all over and leave on all day befire washing off. Then repeat a week later to catch missed areas and that should be it. After this it's all about diet and adding more fresh foods into the mix. ALL those other so called remedies are bad news, especially motor oil, that's insane. Nexguard is poison! Whatever commercial pet food you use, cut it in half and replace that half with eggs, lots, canned sardines in water, part cooked and blended veggies and any meats/meats on the bone. Keep carbs low and no vaccines.

Hi Dan! I just mixed 1 tbsp of the Neem oil you recommend with 8 tbsp of olive oil and 2 tbsp of coconut oil and rubbed all over my 6 month old English bulldog… (generalized demodex mange) I just rescued him… I’m wondering how long to leave it on? I just received the probiotics (pet ultimates) you’ve also recommended in past videos yesterday and he’s had 2 half scoops so far…have cut his kibble in half and have been adding sardines… cooked chicken n small amounts of cooked beef liver, steamed green beans n spinach sauerkraut apples wild blueberries (fruit all in small amounts)shredded carrot sometimes partially cooked eggs and some raw goats milk and 1x day a small amount of goat kefir…will slowly move to raw food … I feel so bad for him because his skin is so bad, itchy, smelly lots of hair loss… anything else I should be giving him? Anything else I should have vet test for? Like yeast? Also how long does it usually take for generalized demodex mange pups to get their fur back so I have a realistic expectation?
@DanScott1
@DanScott1 Жыл бұрын
So you mixed at 10:1. May need a second treatment at 4:1 but wait and see. Leave on for a few hours to really soak in as the mites are deep in the skin. Your doing great. Yeast is hard to shift quickly but a diet with zero sugars and carbs will starve out the yeast over 3 months and the skin will stop itching. I'd get some soil based probiotics for this condition and use them first: amzn.to/3yoURqU then when the issues have resolved, use the ones you have now, so seal the lid and keep in the fridg/freezer. Also add some antioxidants to the meals with freeze dried greens: Green Immune + Super food - (GLM, phytoplankton, Microalgae and Spinach) healthydogforlife.com/GreenImmuneSuperfood If you can cut out the kibble all together, that would fix things even faster but there's a kibble that's only 5% carbs, the only one I know of: Ketona Kibble: healthydogforlife.com/KetonaKibble so you can use that one and still use your current method of 50:50 dry food to fresh food. You can use eggs too, good complete protein food. Once the skin is free of mange it will takes 3 months for the hair to grow back.

My puppy is 16 weeks and the day after we got him broke out into hives and a rash on his belly. Tried everything natural but nothing worked. Had to go on antibiotics for a week...we thought he was allergic to chicken so switched to a fish based diet ... he got alot better but was still scratching and biting at his skin. Ended up taking him back in and they said possible mites and tried giving me flea and tick meds which I refused.. also gave me antibiotics again but I did not give them to him. Came across this video and have been using the neem oil .. today is the third time I've used it but it doesn't seem to be helping ... he's still scratching and biting at his fur BUT when I do the neem oil and comb it through there are all these little black specks that come out of his fur... im assuming these are mites/fleas?? He doesn't have any fur loss really or scabs, broken skin or sores .. do you think because it took about 7 weeks for us to figure out what was going on that he could just need several treatments with the neem oil as they're deep in his skin ?? He is on a pre and probiotic as well as a gut soothe product from adored beast... he is just on kibble but a very high quality one with zero additives, and all ethically sourced. Will most likely purchase your book to dive deeper but any suggestions based off of this would be appreciated!!

Your comment was held, just seeing it now. Just use the neem oil as directed for any skin mite. Sounds like mites. Several treatments with lower mix ie 2:1 and let soak in for a few hours. This could also be yeast issues on the skin from the carbs in the diet. Most kibble is 30-50% carbs. There is a low carb kibble: Ketona Kibble: healthydogforlife.com/KetonaKibble only 5% carbs and all natural additives. To that I would still add eggs, canned sardines and part cooked and blended veggies. Also make sure the probiotic is soil based for the same reason: SBO Probiotics - amzn.to/3yoURqU And yes, a great Idea to get my ebook: healthydogforlife.com/feed-your-dog-better-book-by-dan-scott/ to get a much healthier diet going and learn more about canine nutrition. So this report is after two applications? Even if you have killed all signs of mange, there will be left over scabs from mite detritus/infection. That takes another week or two to clear. @@DanScott1 Thanks Dan! I am from India and the Neem oil is widely used here in India as a natural & safe remedy for both humans and animals. One more suggestion for good teeth health for dogs, I have been keeping GSD, Himalayan mastiff and other breeds and I have used neem sticks for my dogs to chew. It cleans their teeth naturally, prevents tartar buildup, prevents bad mouth odour and overall keeps the oral cavity of the dogs clean and healthy. They need not swallow it, it's just that they need to chew the sticks thereby cleaning their teeth in the process. Thanks. Stay safe & healthy. 🙏

Hi Dan, I live in an area with lots of foxes with mange and some how my dog got affected and i used Sulfur soap lather. or Vaseline mixed with The Sulfur powder( The yellow powder beauticians grade),rubbed on the patchy area, only used it twice or tree times and everything was fine it disappeared. Now please recommend something to put on the food for Foxes so it cures their mange. sadly i so far buried two foxes who died with mange. I know that Arsenic is in some of the medications for mange for foxes. I was supplied with some but they did not eat the food. so if you please look into something like pumpkin seed powder etc ... as they really need help, I can not catch them to rub any thing on them. Personally my experiences with vets has been horrible. From my previous cat (I know this is for dogs but mange is also cat friendly) Lilly Pearl that I had to put down at age 7 (never a diagnosis and too many antibiotic injections killed her kidneys, I was soooo pissed), to my present cat Magnus who came knocking at my door as a stray that I took in. Magnus is a long haired tuxedo cat and I love him dearly. I started noticing that his fur was developing clumpy lumps that I thought were due to the stickers and thorns that would accumulate in his fur when he'd go out so I paid it no mind. I even took him to the vet for an examination and to make sure the ear mites weren't getting out of control. I learned to just put coconut oil in his ears and that takes care of them as long as I keep applying as he is and indoor outdoor feline. The vet noticed the lumpy bumps and told me I need to bathe my cat more often. Come to find out the lumpy bumps are mange and the critters were burrowing under his fur causing the mangled fur to clump that had been going on for over six months (not too sure how long actually but long enough...ugh) until the fur started falling off! I felt super guilty that I wasn't more concerned with what was causing it and should of examined them further myself, other than that he looked healthy and I feed him my food-14 dollar top sirloin steak and chicken and bacon and also cat food. I was horrified because at first I thought it was ringworm but once the fur started falling off it didn't stop. I called the vet to ask for medication or something and they told me the shampoo I was using for the ringworm would do the trick but I had to shampoo my cat for TWO to THREE months every other day until it cleared. SERIOUSLY?? So, I've cleaned every surface he lays on and sprinkled diatomaceous earth on his bedding and mopped everywhere with vinegar to clear the areas where there might be spots of these parasites waiting to create more kitty havoc. I've shampooed him every other day for the past two weeks and have incorporated the borax and peroxide rinse AFTER the ketohex shampoo from the vet (personally I don't think its very effective if I have to use it for months). I also bought Ring Out from amazon and was spraying that on him but decided to spray my rugs with that and the couch if he gets on it. In order to penetrate through the thick clumpy fur I'd have to basically soak him all over. I also used chlorine dioxide spray on him that I use on myself, on his off days. I have never in all my years as a pet owner seen anything so creepy and disgusting. So now I'm keeping my cat indoors until I see improvement and its hard because he meows and howls to be let outside. I thank you for your post on here about rubbing neem oil on his fur diluted with another base oil so I just bought some neem and almond oil to help with the irritation and dry skin. I've come to believe that its always natural cures that work best. VETS: if somebody comes to you with a cat that has lumpy fur, ITS MANGE and you should be more curious as to what those are and do a closer inspection other than blaming a 'bad' pet owner. I am NOT a bad pet owner!!!

Thanks for your comment, I understand your frustrations. Ues the neem oil 1 part neem oil to 4 parts carrier oil ie coconut oil, mix and apply all over infected areas and allow to really soak in. It will kill all ringworm/mange mites in the skin while at the same time soothing the skin. Leave to soak in all afternoon before washing out and go again a week later to get any missed spots and your done.. until the next breakout at least (being a street cat).

So your wanting to get rid of a mange outbreak? 1 part neem oil to 4 parts carrier oil, almond, mix and apply to all infected areas. Go again 1 week later to be sure all areas covered and that's it. Allow to really soak in over several hours before washing off with mild shampoo such as Oatmeal Pet Wash: amzn.to/3CYUBjw Now, general mange means to me, lack of nutrition in the diet and or over vaccination/drugs autoimmune issues, so zero drugs/vaccs and much more fresh foods in the diet which you can start by taking out half present dietr and replacing with fresh foods such ad eggs, meats, canned sardines, veg and some organs ie liver ie 2tsp full daily in food for vitamins/minerals. Definitely stop the white rice, makes dog itchy, bad for organs. Everything else is fine except potatoes, keep carbs low! Also start small amounts of raw egg and build up so it's all raw as there's 30% extra nutrition from raw. Mash/crush or blend the veg/fruits to digest better. Replace the carbs with more eggs, meats and canned sardines in water are good to. NO vaccinations going forward either.

She has a few hairless areas under her front legs with little brown spots, and on her belly, but the hair has been growing back since treating those areas. The biggest concern now is her ears.
