Same. I also have to learn to trust my gear to hold me which I'm still overcoming. I found myself at times walking on top of the limb straight posture as opposed to lowering my center of gravity and putting weight on my rope cause I was scared a bit. But I'm slowly getting better!
@thebromies5573
@thebromies5573 2 ай бұрын
@wwfera00 try doing that on an steep I cline lol u actually a lot safer putting your body weight on the rope because if you slip and fall from straight up you could hurt yourself smacking into the branch when you get caught by your rope

So there is no advantage to using your rope wrench for limb walking with MRS, just your hitch of choice and attach it for descending? It seems like it's a lot easier to tend slack with the hitch climber this way.

Gotta do it in style! That's what's gonna happen when you have an expert who not only knows what they're doing, but it's comfortable and second nature to them. Plus, it's automatic...the're not doing it to impress...but rather it's borne out of efficiency and practicality. And then they just happen to look damn good doing it!!

You guys are on a roll. Absolutely priceless guidance between both of these recent limb walk vids. Amateur climber here, and I never thought of re-positioning my lanyard centrally (or on a side D for that matter) while triangulating into another hang point, although I'll admit, I do tend to deploy my Captains Hook to get another line out to triangulate my position. Thanks again boys!!

How do you manage a 45° limb with not many foot holds?
@BartlettArboristSupply
@BartlettArboristSupply Жыл бұрын
Ahh, those may be tricky but can be accomplished. I tackle those in the "Jaguar Stance"; not directly on it but to the side. I will also utilize my lanyard for these limbs. With the lanyard in place, I will push on the limb with my feet creating pressure and slowly flip my way up, while tending slack as well.

@BartlettArboristSupply

OOF, that is a good one! Three ways I would go about it: 1. Crane, 2. An aerial lift, 3. Lastly, If there are other trees around, I would try to set up a floating tie-in point.
@The-Way-of-the-Arborist
@The-Way-of-the-Arborist Жыл бұрын
Or, if you can't get out to the limb in question... you can climb out as far as you can go with a sturdy position,, pull up your pole saw with your rope, and cut those outer branch tips like I did today 😅
@ivanpopovic8916
@ivanpopovic8916 Жыл бұрын
Crane and aerial lift is out of question 😅 the problem is that before they cut the top of the tree and now you have long branches of the tree which need to be cut down, i think that pole saw would be my next investment. Thank you for the comment

what is really funny is that tree climbing is easy , but with all the over done rigs today its as if you guys think your up a 2000 ft cliff , and i am a 38 year vet and still climbing 6 days a week , less is more your main tool is your body and arms and balance with a basic climbing rig , if you cant climb like a monkey your not a climber .
