Procrastination is the art of not starting. Once I realized this, my procrastination dropped significantly. Once I just started, often times it was hard to stop.
@famzini4424

That is so helpful. Also, what do you say when you want to procrastinate? I will do it later. I find it helpful saying. I am doing it now. Other things I say to myself when I want to procrastinate are: “It’s difficult” and “It takes too much time or it will take a long time”. And then an excuse: “even if I do this, it’s just a very small drop of water in an ocean”. So what I do, I just flip those phrases to their opposite.

Thanks so much for letting me on and giving such fire advice (as usual!) I have been implementing the small rewards of walking my dog after accomplishing tasks and have been attracting more leads in the dm’s than I had before, along with finalizing the things that I had been ‘perfecting.’ In my time learning from your podcast and getting to speak to you my confidence has slowly gotten stronger & stronger and continues to grow. Thanks for all you do Leila! ❤

Also the people who are around you will try to influence you. If they don't work as hard as you, they will say you don't need to work on weekends, days off, evenings, etc.. In fact, I'm going to be using my winter vacation to entertain family for the first half of day, then do my SQL/programming projects in the evening/night. They don't like it but I have to do it in order to take advantage of having more time

I watched this a few days ago and decided to put it on again now as some weird celebratory event. Last night I had a hell of a time falling asleep. My body just would not cooperate. Despite a long day at work and physical exhaustion, I needed to [do something]. I got to sleep, but ended up waking up at 12:45am. Decided "okay, either I'm going back to sleep and getting one more sleep cycle or I'm getting up and working on something." The latter happened. I ended up finishing the lyrics to the last song that needed them on an album I'm releasing this year. This particular song has existed in some form for 13.5 years (I checked the original file). It went through two prior versions of lyrics that I hadn't written myself. Now I have written them, in my target language (native language is English), and now I just need to get together with a friend who helped me proofread the other songs to look at this one. The amount of giddy joy I felt this morning at 3am after finishing these lyrics after years of procrastination is second only to the day my husband and I got together. I've been leaning in on yours and Alex's content this past week and your delivery style is exactly what provokes me to act. I have multiple businesses I want to build in the creative world, mostly in music, and if I can capture this stupid metal-screaming-at-3am giddiness on a regular basis, then hell, I'm all in.
