Sometimes, when I REALLY don't like someone in Fallout or Skyrim but they're "essential," I'll save the game, wipe the floor with them until I get bored, then reload my save because... apparently people don't appreciate when you try to murder them. That said, I saved right before I murdered the Thalmor in Markarth because I wasn't sure if they WERE essential... turns out, they're not! :-D

I think she was confused, if you fail an event you can't continue unless you start over. Like if you have to complete a timed event but you messed up right out of the gate you wouldn't complete the whole thing just to start over, that would be a gross misuse of your already misused time.

Seriously, wtf console was this guy playing in the early 90's that a hard reset would land you back at the "last save". 99% of games didn't even have save points, alphanumeric codes were way more common and I remember reverting back to them too when I knew I had done something to guarantee failure on my current playthrough, like losing too many lives.

its not cheating if you restart before fail, i do it all the time, that way i get better results, for example in RE5 if you're dying its better to restart and the death wont count, you get better ranking, WTF? it would be retarded to die if you can prevent it

i think jessica didn't get what they are trying to say..its NOT cheating!! its saving time, why would you watch over and over again your character falling a cliff and die, as if you can do something about it..if your already falling and will surely die, why would you wait for the game to say "you failed", its a waste of time..just pause the game and restart again, thats whats gonna happen anyways..but i love jessica.. If a game has a 5-10 sec death screen where I am just waiting, AND I can see the death a few sec in advance, I would be stupid not to reset myself. In a hard part of a game, this can stack up real fast.

There is a lesson to be learned in this. When you fuck up you keep going, when you fall you get back up and keep going, you dont stop until you hit rock bottom. At that point you get back up again and do it all over again until you succeed. You learn from all of that stumbling and falling. You grow from it. Hitting pause and checkpoint ruins all of that!

I do an extreme version of what she does. Like State of Decay Breakdown, where you actually gather people you can play as? If the character I play was killed by a Juggernaut (who just happened to poof into the world in front of me, that better get ironed out in State of Decay 2). I completely quit out of the game and start a new file. In my mind, my consciousness is dead in that world. So I just didn't survive. Yeah, I know, I got the other characters. But it's to see how long you would survive in that session, and I didn't. So next try with a new game to see how long this time.

The ROM in my Gameboy broke so when play anything on it and turn it off, all progress is lost regardless the fact I save or not. So if ever I want to finish playing Pokemon Blue or Crystal, I play for at least a day straight, keeping it charging the entire time.
