Hi, thanks, that was really helpful! Unfortunately, I have cut mine way too far back and think I’m SOL! However, the ones that I did do as you have shown with using the clinking shares I kind of scratches my forehead. What do you do to help with that?! And have you ever sent your wig back to John Renaux for repair?! I have bought six or seven of the $4000 Human hair wigs, and I just had horrible luck with them fraying and falling apart // it’s been a REALLY EXPENSIVE ordeal 😭😢

Jon Renau recommends using pinking shears to trim their SmartLace to reduce fraying as you would see cutting it straight across with regular scissors. Over time, I have found the lace does get scratchy. I put a very think layer of Got2BGlued transparent gel along the hairline where the lace will rest, put my wig on, make any adjustments and press the lace down into the gel which will dry fairly quickly. This helps form a barrier between the lace and your skin and it will also hold the lace in place until you remove it with water or you sweat it off. Personally I prefer to use the got2b spray or gel to add extra security. I personally have not sent any of my wigs back for lace repair but it can be done by contacting Jon Renau on their website.

Why the pinking shears?

SmartLace is a welded lace. Using pinking shears “crimps” the lace to help prevent fraying.

I have made the mistake before of cutting lace where it didn’t really need to be cut and it really threw off the ratio of how the wig sits. The lace lays flat but the wig slides backwards. It’s too short I guess.

I get really nervous talking about trimming lace because SmartLace is really not meant to be cut. Even trimming it slightly can and most likely will alter how it fits. That’s why I strongly advise against it anytime I talk about lace. Thank you so much for taking the time to watch the video and comment ❤️

I’m so sorry I thought I had addressed this when I replied to you before and see that I didn’t make a suggestion. If you find the wig doesn’t sit right after trimming the lace, I put a thin layer of got2bGlued clear hair gel (in the black tube) along my hairline where the lace will sit, put on the wig, make any adjustments to be sure it’s placed on correctly and comfortably and press the lace into the gel. It’ll dry fairly quickly but it’ll help hold it on without tape. It’ll come off with water or if you perspire a lot.
