Are you able to grow a guava plant from the cut branches? that looks like a lot of healthy foliage which could make into a healthy tree?

I purchased two South Asian varieties of guava and a mango tree from Guavaking. He is a fantastic seller. Please make more videos on mangoes and other tropical fruit trees.

As per my understanding, we keep fruit trees for fruits and not for aesthetic purposes. More branches is usually a better option with chances of having more fruits. So I think u just did the reverse of what was actually required.
@guavaking87562 ай бұрын
I agree with you that more branches= more fruit, but not at this stage. These are very young trees and they have to turn into strong trees. The focus is just tree health and growth of the tree rather than fruit production at this stage. Later in its life it will focus on producing fruit. I help people plant orchards and we never get any fruit from trees until they are 5 years old.

May I ask WHY you want a straight trunk in the middle? I've seen others say avoid it for better air and sunlight access
@creativesparkclara2 жыл бұрын
Why exactly would you not want a guava bush? Would it not grow as many guavas? Is it because of aesthetics? I have a guava tree in a big pot and have let it get bushy, hoping the more branches, the more fruit there will be. I’m okay with it being on the short side because it’s in a pot that is about 30 inches tall. I do want to maximize the amount of fruit so I’m researching how to prune it.

Nice. Could you explain what is wrong in having a bushy tree. For smaller areas that may be a better option. We can always trim the bushy ones later too to the form we like. Can you explain your rational here? Thx
@MoebiusUK Жыл бұрын
I wondered this also ... it must be purely for aesthetic reasons. Certainly NOT to maximise flowers and fruit production.

Nice bro. I managed to grow 2 Guavas from seeds in Sweden, its a cold country so i have them indoors during the cold season =) didnt know what seeds i had planted since I planted way too many types. So your video helped me identify the plant :D I like how bald you are when cutting the trees.

Iv seen this being done on other fruit trees . Its mainly to promote a healthy tree. And also u will get more quality of fruit , taste wise too .

How to get a thick trunk? My guava saplings are tall (grown from seeds) about 3 feet height, lots of leaves, but the trunk is really thin, not like a tree. Is that ok? Will it grow thick later, or can I do something to make it thick now? Thanks!
@guavaking87563 жыл бұрын
You can trim the top it will help the trunk to get thicker.

No new growth on my guava plant after i bought from a nursery, should i wait to trim or do it right away to promote growth.Will it put my plant to shock
@guavaking87563 жыл бұрын
Wait till you new growth before you start trimming. It also depends how big the tree is. If it is a large tree with many branches it will help to trim right away. It will promote new growth. You might consider giving some fertilizer to it. Thank you

Please dont follow this mans advice he has damaged these trees he cut lower scaffolds branches off and turned them into whip trees. The whole idea about air laying or marcotting is that you get a perfect clone of the parent plant and fruit set potentially earlier. Really bad advice

Bushy trees have too many branches to feed. The fruit will have the same problem too many fruit with poor quality. You should have a strong trunk for a fruit tree with few branches where you will have less fruit but very good quality fruit. It is not the quantity you want it is quality. The bushy trees need too much water and fertilizer and are prone to disease because trees do not get enough water and fertilizer and get stress in hot weather. Thank you

@guavaking87563 жыл бұрын
Bushy trees need too much water and fertilizer and when they do not get it they get stressed and are prone to disease. When it comes to fruit it is not the quality it is the quality of fruit you want. Too many fruit will not have very good quality because it is hard for a tree to provide enough energy to all the fruit. You want the limited quality of fruit and branches to Keep the tree healthy. Thank you
