I was a lift Chair repair tech for 13 years before I retired back in 2013. Majority of the chairs I worked on were Golden Technologies lift chairs but once in awhile I would see a Pride chair. When a chair moves one direction but not the other it was always the hand control. Most of the time I could use a Golden hand control on a Pride but not all the time. Problem with Pride is they have changed their connectors a few times and then I would have to order the controller from Pride. Those two 9 volt batteries are meant for a backup in case the power fails and in that way you don't get stuck in the chair. I told people to change those batteries about twice a year to make sure you don't get stuck. If you find the chair is moving slowly and not at regular speed its on battery backup, check your electrical connections. Make sure its plugged in.

What if the remote lights up but neither button works? Lift chair is only 2 years old.
@joewigginsfortynine Жыл бұрын
@@ginni333 If I were on a service call with this kind of problem 1st thing I would do is to use my service hand control to see if it works, if it did I then replace controller. Personally without checking it out myself, I suspect it is a faulty hand control. If this chair is only 2 years old, it should be under warranty. I was a Golden Tech repairman and they have 3 full years on all electrical. What you should do is to contact your dealer and have them send out a tech. If it is a Pride or Golden chair it should be still under warranty and there will be no cost to you.

What could be wrong with a Latitude Run power lift chair that has massage/heat, but the massage will not shut off. Tried unplugging the chair and when plugged back in, the massage starts up.

If the remote is lighting up it is getting power. Do you hear the motor running when you push the button? If so the shaft on the motor is stripped out. If nothing at all is happening check the wire going from the hand control down through the underside to make sure wires are not getting pinched and causing a bread in the wire. That is something I ran into one time but it is rare. Normally you can count on it being a faulty hand control.@@ginni333

For some controls, you have to complete the circuit for this to work. Simply putting hot (pin 1) to pin 2 or pin 4 won't do anything unless you also short the other pin to ground (the circular metal shell that goes all the way around). So if you short pin 1 and 4, then you have to also run pin 2 to ground. If you short 1 and 2, you have to short 4 to ground.

Thank you Don Caruana for your insight. Lucky for me my control was as I explained. I hope this video help someone with identical problems.

My chair won’t lay back..but goes forward. Your original control looks just like mine. The chair was purchased at a Medical Supply place for my dad. This chair has been an awesome chair..20yo. Material of chair is like new. I’ve taken very good care of this chair. It was almost $1,000.00 in year 2001 I hope it’s only controls..sounds like it-since it works forward, but not reclining.

Not sure if you’re still answering questions on an old video, but i got this chair to go down. But it won’t go up. My control box wasn’t black like yours but it was a horizontal one like - - - - The first one on the left and the third one put the chair down. But no other one works. Sparks shot out at me when i tried the others over and over lol

Hello Willy Mammoth and thank you for your reply. This is the only chair model I have and I am hoping that someone benefit from my short experience with it. I could do some research to assist you in any way I can but I need at least the name and model of the chair and some pictures of the control box and electric wires.

I have a Lazy Boy wall hugger recliner that uses 5 pin connectors. Should I expect the same jumper to work for it? It just went dead while using it. After tracing the wires, it worked for a couple of seconds then dead again. Power supply has green light, but don't know where to check for power with my Fluke meter?? Thank you, Tony

My lift chair has dual motors. The motor seems to be giving out but I’m not sure. It goes up and down a lot slower in the motor makes lower noises. How do I know if the motor is failing for sure? Thank you.

Our catnapper lift chair isn't working. It stopped suddenly and remote has never turned back on. Its fairly new and have already had it repaired, disappointed at how expensive the chair is and constantly breaking down. The person who used it passed away but would still like the chair to work.

Home Meridian lift chair with the fbs 60301 actuator. Chair is stuck up. Controller works for all functions, heat massage, just won’t go down. Up down buttons cause clicks at junction box so it would seem the controller is good. Could this be junction box or motor?

@juga74 жыл бұрын
Hello Natilee Bell and welcome to my channel. A very good question. You could unplug the motor control cable and reverse the polarity at the contacts of the plug of the cable by using the two 9 volts battery. Unless the motor is totally defective, it should start the motor in reverse and bring the chair down. Take look at the example of how this is done in the video. I hope this can help.

Hello John McCleary and Thank you for watching the video. Tragically this is the only chair that I have and all I learned I put it on the video. I took a chance with my hand control when I bought and lucky for me it worked. If you do take that chance make sure the connectors match before you buy it. May you have a blessed day.

Doris I was a lift chair repair tech for 13 years, I am retired now. Without knowing the make and model I can tell you the majority of chairs that move in one direction and not go the other way are caused by a faulty hand control.

@@juga7 Anytime you need help with an answer, I would be more than happy to help. On Saturday I put a new seat into my PR505 Golden Tech lift chair. That was a big job and took a lot of time. It now feels like a new chair. Also on Golden Chairs the metal frame and wood frame is under a lifetime warranty.

Hey Joe, with your experience, do you know if there are hand controls out there that would close a circuit when a button is pushed and others that open a circuit when a button is pushed? My mom's chair has a burned out relay and I suspect that it is because the replacement control was the second type but the chair needed the first type.
@robertcason90823 жыл бұрын
Guess you should unplug the chair before you go sticking a paperclip into jump pin holes.😬🤕
@juga73 жыл бұрын
Hello Robert Cason and thank you for your comments. In this particular chair the voltage is 24 volts DC at that connector. This is the same voltage use in air conditioner's controllers. The 120 volts is in the black box. I will never advise to go there unless you are a trained electrician. May you have a blessed day.
