Thank you so much for this video. I ordered my first single reed cutdown a couple weeks ago, and to say that I was shocked when I first blew it would be an understatement. About to go tune and see what happens! Fully confident after watching this!

You're welcome!! I'm glad I could help! Yeah, the cut downs are totally different from j frame calls and I was a little shocked the first time I tried a cut down as well! I didn't care for them at first honestly. I hope trimming your reed helps you out bud!

I struggle to finesse regular Mondo. This is my new favorite call by far. Im a small dude but this is exactly what was looking for. RNT read my mind as always and came thru. Gets more quite consistantly than my Micro hen. That says ALOT.!!! Cant wait for season!!!
@f5outdoors9562 жыл бұрын
I agree man! This call and the Land'nGear machete are the only cut downs I can run efficiently! I'm still more of a j frame guy. But I do love the 2B! Very good sounding call and fun to run! Thanks for watching bud! I can't wait for season either!!

I personally liked the sound of the call best before any cuts, but everyone has their own preference. Definitely more finesse than a regular mondo
@f5outdoors9562 жыл бұрын
Thanks bud! Yeah it's all about personal preference for sure. Before the trim, it had a little more of that traditional cut down sound. I personally prefer a j frame call over a cut down. With that being said, I guess that's why I'm attracted to the 2B over a lot of other cut downs. Thanks for watching and for your comment buddy! God bless!

@@f5outdoors956 so I've had about 1 day of practice on the call in factory form. I could tell it was a little too stiff so I trimmed about 1/16" inch off the base. The call is now noticeably easier to blow and sounds much more natural. For some reason though it seems like the feed is now harder to do than it was before. Is this because I just need more practice? Or should I try trimming a little bit more off the reed? It feels like the air I'm putting through isn't quite enough to manipulate the reed for the feed call, but the quacks feel awesome. I just don't want to trim too much and make the call squeel
@f5outdoors9562 жыл бұрын
Honestly I think you might just have to put a little less pressure into the feed. The shorter the Reed is, the less it'll bounce around on the feed call. More pressure will make the reed move less. Try that and let me know bud.
@BeatRock2532 жыл бұрын
@@f5outdoors956 I can do a feed with it but its definitely not as easy as it was with the longer reed. It's an interesting trade off because the quacks sound so much better which in reality is likely a more important sound anyways. I think I'm gonna have RNT send me some more reeds to experiment more.
@f5outdoors9562 жыл бұрын
@@BeatRock253 I agree bud. It's kind of crazy how perfect you have to get the reed to make it make you completely happy once your start tuning your own calls. It really becomes a must to get that Reed exactly where you want it to be able to do everything you want to
@chrisshupe5427 Жыл бұрын
Thanks also for the video. It helped a ton. Is that a precut reed you are using and also what brand and from where? I have used RNT reeds in the past but thinking of trying a Kirk McCullough reed in the mondo 2b. Any thoughts are welcome.
@f5outdoors956 Жыл бұрын
Glad I could help bud!! That was the stock reed that came with the call from RNT. They typically come with a couple of extras so you can have some room to play with a couple of different reeds.

Thank you. I wish I could get a wood mondo 2b. Do you know of one out there? Have they made one in wood?
@f5outdoors956 Жыл бұрын
@@chrisshupe5427 I think there were some 2b mondos made in grandillo wood or whatever its called, but I'm not 100% positive on that

Why do you prefer the 2B over the standard DC Mondo/ Shorter barrel Mondos? What about singleton calls?
@f5outdoors9562 жыл бұрын
Well I prefer the 2B over all of the longer barrel mondos such as the bones mondos, LT and DC. It just takes less air pressure to drive the 2B and you have more tone range with the 2B in my opinion. But the only shorter barrel mondo I've been able to try so far is the LAS and I actually really love it. Maybe more than the 2B. I plan to do a review on it soon. I've never blown any singleton calls. But I do hear good things about them if you're a cut down guy.

I'm actually not real sure if he's still selling any man. He started an HVAC business recently. Your best bet would likely be to look up the Land'nGear Facebook or Instagram page and shoot him a personal message
