I just got a brand new guitar for my 18th birthday and it was way out of tune for the first strum. I looked up "how to tune an acoustic guitar" and this was one of the first videos to top up in the search list. My guitar now sounds amazing, thank you so much for the information and here's to an all new adventure into music!

A couple of points. First, if you check your tuning often it will give a useful health check on the state of the guitar. If you are always having to re-tune it can be a sign that you have a problem. Second, always tune down below the note you are aiming for and then come back up to the correct note. this will help to stay on tune.

Strum your strings with them standard western tuning literally tuned to a440hz if it's been broadcasted over a radio that's what it's tuned to it used to be 432 which is lovely the Rockefellers changed it from 432hz to a440

When I started playing electronic tuners were uncommon, mostly expensive bench or studio strobe devices so most players tuned to pitch pipes (the worst), a fork, or keyboards.Little clip-ons are great BUT may be inaccurate, or favor a particular key. If so, learn to use your ear to compensate. Each string except b should be near the same as the fifth fret on the lower pitched string next to it.The b string should be near the fourth fret. This will also be useful to play along with a piano that hasn't been tuned recently, or recordings that are not standard pitch. Harmonics can also be used, but that's a little complicated for a comment on a basic instruction on KZbin.

FOR THE LIFE OF ME!!! I can't seem to get those same sounds from my own metal strings without risking them to pop. Why is that?? I bought 09-45 strings because they are thinner. But still- not even close to standard tuning sounds such as above☝ Worth mentioning that I have rewired my epihone guitar to play left handed, as well as changing the bridge saddle upside down. So I tuned the guitar. Then I hit a chord and the strings I have to hit while holding the chord no longer strum. theyre tight. Seems even when I retune while holding the strings down the neck that I get the same issue.. No one in their tuning videos seems to address this. I don't see anywhere a link that I can download the stuff I need to print?!? There is one link that takes me to a website to pay WTF you don't mention that part. Also in your tuning video you don't explain if the string any one of them is too tight don't keep trying to go higher to hit the proper tuning note and watch the string snap. You should explain that there should be x amount of flexibility to the string so they don't have to put on a new one all the time during their first tries at tuning.

If your like me and dont have a controled room temperature. Like it cool in the morning and hot in the afternoon. It effects the strings. So dont retune as the temperature drops the strings will tighten with it. Other wise you will be tuning your guitar every time you pick it up. Idk about ur guitar but mine stays in tune for at least a week before i need to adjust it.
