Just ordered my first Emerson Rendezvous tonight. First thing I did was search for a Emerson tuning video. Glad you had one bud. Thank you. Gonna go order that Ox Gard now. Thanks again 🤘

Glad to be of service! Honestly though, if you got it new from the factory it should be good to go. The older double detent models could be troublesome sometimes. Oxguard is good stuff to have on hand however.

@@chucknunface great to hear. If you ever wanna check out the rendezvous just let me know...or anything else I have. I'll send it your way. I'm excited to bust the dremyl out and make a couple of birds eye maple scales for the rendezvous. Looking forward to "attempt" to anyway lol.

Great tips video. Especially the Ox Gard. As a machinist we talk about dimensions from the thousands. So those are 30 thousands thick washers. .030. Hope that made sense. Great video man 🤘🤘

That's the one. I understand decimals but when it comes to saying it on camera I flub it. I said three hundredths I think. That antiox compound really works.

Love my older emersons. Working on my etak while watching this video. Apparently you convert the double detent models to single. You have to drill a new detent hole. I spydie flick my emersons or use the wave. The flipper cqc8 is supa smooooth.
@chucknunface2 жыл бұрын
I've noticed the lack of hole on the traditional side for a detent.

Your the man! I think on camera it looks a little better but that my be because it’s clean I’m sure you can tell better than me watching. No matter what tho we learned something. I learned a couple thing about Emerson’s and I learned I need to get some ox guard

That stuff works wonders. You did a better job than you thought tuning them up

On mine the detent is light. You can feel it when you open the blade but it definitely won’t keep the blade locked in there. Seems like the pressure from the pivot is what keeps it from opening in the pocket. Either that or I need to adjust my detent?
@chucknunface Жыл бұрын
Did you watch the whole video? I cover that. Old models have a double detent and no hole in the blade for the detent to rest in. You really have to finagle it.
@orendz7740 Жыл бұрын
@@chucknunface yeah I should’ve waited before I asked lol. I got mine figured out. Thanks bro
@chucknunface Жыл бұрын
@orendz7740 ok cool 👍🏼. Old double detent models will never be "perfect" if your looking for a nice flicky action, but there's still an appeal they have.
@orendz7740 Жыл бұрын
@@chucknunface yeah man, I still like it. It’s a good strong knife with a purpose that’s probably not designed to be “fidgety”. I just wanted the detent to be a little stronger. Watching your video through helped me. I got it tuned to my liking. Thanks bud

These double detents are kind of a pain to tune in. My mini CQC15 is centered with a decent action but no way you can flick it out. The thing with the double detent is it's actually not, the only real detenr is the one on the show side, so there's no real way to make it tighter without making the action less smooth. The ball on the lock bar is just there to reduce contact between the blade and the lock while it opens.

Yup the blades aren't drilled on the lockside.

I have only tried one Emerson. It was an a100 from like 15 years ago. It was new in box and I was very happy with it. I ended up having 2 sell my collection right after I got it.whem I am able 2 start buying knives again I am hoping to find a seax . That's probably in the top 3 Emerson's I want. I always hear people talking about Emerson knives being overpriced. I don't agree with that at all.
@chucknunface2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the comment. Fwiw, the seax has just recently been re-released as of 08.04.2022. Emerson is another of those polarizing brands that people love or hate.

If you don't know how to tune, clean and adjust a folder, then maybe you shouldn't have it.
