How To Turn A Cardboard Box Into An Outdoor Oven
SUPPLIES
Cardboard box
Foil tape
Box cutters
Aluminum foil
4 soda can
Weight ( dried bean, sand, dirt, rocks)
Dry rack
Pie sheet
Charcoal briquettes
brick
INSTRUCTIONS
Tape the box shut so all sides are not open.
Cut out one side of the box (the larger side), leaving the top attached so there is a flap to open the box.
Wrap foil inside and outside of the box until there is not cardboard showing. Make sure to use the foil tape.
Take the box outside to a safe location.
Heat up the coals.
Take empty soda cans and add weight to each can so it won’t fall inside the box.
Place the cans on the 4 corners of the box, and place the wire rack on top of the cans.
Place hot coals onto the pie sheet.
Add your cookies, brownies or your choice of dish.
Close the lid and place a brick in front of the lid to keep the box completely shut.
Bake according to cooking instructions.
Enjoy your treat without the convenience of your normal kitchen!

I appreciate the time you took to produce this video. Thank you for the tip about removing the plastic packaging tape and replacing with foil tape :) I was excited to try this design because I liked the flip open cover. Unfortunately, the bottom of my box caught on fire. The heat transferred through the foil to the cardboard bottom. I wonder how your box didn't catch on fire? I had more success with the style where you cut the flaps off of the box and line the inside with foil. The box is then placed over the top of the food to be cooked. The box is propped open with something like a rock, to allow for some ventilation. The rest of the set-up is similar to your design with the cans and the rack. For those who doubted or commented about the heat...Yes, it does work! Yes, it does get hot ~350 degrees = 10 briqs. ALWAYS USE SAFETY! Use oven mitts to remove box. Check food periodically. Always keep away from flammable material and keep water on standby. Also, foil tape can be found at a home/garden store.

350 fahrenheit or celsius? i know you can bake a cake in a cardboard box without catching on fire as long as it doesn't reach 451 degrees fahrenheit, so i was wondering if it still applied?

@@MinaFats yes, you want to make sure that the box is exposed to the sunlight. I positioned mine in my backyard at home, and in an open area near the fire pit when outdoor camping. NEVER LEAVE UNATTENDED. KEEP AWAY FROM FLAMMABLE MATERIALS/OBJECTS. HAVE WATER NEARBY IN CASE IT CATCHES ON FIRE. USE HEAVY DUTY GLOVES/OVEN MITTS. Happy baking!

@@berry186 cool tape is actually automotive tape which is a metal tape (very sharp). My dad used it sometimes when doing a quick (temparary) holding together of joints before welding them together (he's an aircraft mechanic.

I made one of these and it works great. I stole the handle from an old Weber kettle cover so the door is easier to open and close. I also stuck a thermometer onto the top!

Wow! Better get my “useful” *cardboard box* and get to work for like, 8 hours, trying to figure out how to do it and figure out a design! And then wait for maybe a few more days waiting for things to cook, when I’m in Alaska! Wait, who the fuck has time for that? *Nobody. That’s who.*
