It's a very interesting topic‚ What i learned lately and like you said people end up continuing to have a bad game because they think that the only way into a game is by scoring‚ it's like they only see one and only one door to a house and ounce that door is closed they can't get in😂 they think it's the ONLY way through‚ while there's actually way too many doors to that house you just gotta stop the tunnel vision of scoring and only scoring‚ like there's sooo much more to the game‚ get into it‚ get in the house and then everything is yours scoring included but also a lot more

Hi Coach Taylor, I am interested to know how to mentally "tackle" mental warfare, when my teammates or coach talk down on me when I have a bad game, they sometimes like to call me not so nice names in a "joking" manner, and constantly remind me that my performance was lack luster. That feeling can get under my skin sometimes, what is the best approach with not saying much at all and improve myself after an experience like that?

Should I listen to music during my basketball workouts? Also what happened to the guided meditation you guys had on Spotify?
@DeepGameBasketball Жыл бұрын
You can listen to music, especially during more repetitive part of your workouts where things aren't as technical such as shooting for reps or dribbling for reps etc. But you should probably turn it off or at least not have it blasting through your headphones (a speaker may be better) while you're learning new things during your workouts. Music can also be helpful at times if you feel your game has become more robotic. You can implement it in a sort of freestyle training session where you dribble, make moves, and shoot in rhythm with the music. This is however something to be done as needed and not as your entire regimen. As for the Spotify audio, it should be here: open.spotify.com/episode/16ci35Sw9Z9qTS63jaBEqC?si=nIT_q2wiQV2BCxZKOvhzbA Simon DeepGame

I commented on another video, but my teammates, I don't think they trust me on the court. That mixed in with the coach playing me as a PF/C, it is discouraging. I put my efforts into other parts like defence which I play well and rebounding which I do good for my size but I do want to score as well and I know I can. How can I solve this sir
@DeepGameBasketball11 ай бұрын
What is it that you think makes your teammates lack trust in you on the court? Are you lacking in certain skills which they can't trust you with? - Simon, Team DeepGame
@sttuffwithjoe447711 ай бұрын
@@DeepGameBasketball I don't really know. I don't think I'm lacking in too much skills obviously I can improve though. Maybe it is just that I'm a bit soft-spoken, idk.
@DeepGameBasketball11 ай бұрын
@@sttuffwithjoe4477 Your teammates will start to trust you when you prove to them you can be trusted. So it's less about whether you're quiet or not, and more about the results you're putting out, and the actions you take on the court. It would be well worth looking into your skillset and seeing what specifically can be improved, so that you can offer a strong position on the team to help them win - Simon, Team DeepGame

For me, the problem I'm facing right now is that I'm in a slump, but not because I'm just off. It's because i can't seem to find rythym in my teams offense, because it's not exactly ideal for my game. And because of that, it's really hard to get in rythym during a game, because I'm taking what I'm given instead of making opportunities. And therefore I may take 2 shots in the first half and 15 shots in the second, or I might take 10 threes in one game and none in the next. I can't find a groove and consistency. Tips?
@DeepGameBasketball Жыл бұрын
To me this sounds like a tactical (surface game) problem rather than a deep game problem. The solution would be studying the offense on a deeper level and finding the spots and situations within it where you can be most effective. It's always tempting but not helpful to get down about the fact that the offense isn't suited for you -- instead, suit yourself towards the offense by adapting your game for it. You may find that this situation actually helps you evolve a particular part of your game that needed work -- so the long term impact on your game is positive in the end.

I have inconsistency being stone cold or flaming hot - confidence and fear are such great forces opposing. I get easily 'tilted' and the fight to turn it around becomes many times harder. I feel I still try my most physically but begin falling apart by play IQ or mental resistance.
@DeepGameBasketball Жыл бұрын
You don't really need to fight to turn it around at all. Instead, try actually tapping into the energy of what you're feeling (sounds like it is a mix of frustration and anger), and instead of letting it spiral out of control, use it in a controlled manner to improve your performance. Is playing hard and trying hard the same thing?
@DeepGameBasketball Жыл бұрын
Thanks for bringing this up -- it's a point of confusion a few of our players had with this video. When I say "playing hard" in this talk, I'm referring to physical effort -- digging deeper and exerting more aggression on defense, rebounding, etc which can often bring you back into the rhythm of the game quite quickly. By "trying hard" what I mean is holding psychological tension around needing to play perfectly, not make mistakes, etc -- which of course doesn't help performance. Does that make sense?
