That wood looks amazing, and in your hands, it turned into the bowl it always deserved to be. I hope you and your family had a wonderful Christmas.

Nicely and smoothely done, as usual. For me this is indeed a big bowl! Bigger than that is huge, and not really "userull" (and hardly sellable...). Keep up the good zprk, but foe now enjoy family time!

I thank you for sharing another wonderful project with us. My turning club had 3 university educated artist until old age diminished the numbers. The artist agreed that all bowls should have a foot accept when they shouldn't! Of course that is true but not particularly helpful for those of us without art training. Almost all of the bowl you show have a foot. I would appreciate it if in one of your future productions you would share your thoughts on how large in relation to the diameter of a bowl and how tall a foot gives the most pleasing and or the most functional foot for a bowl.

Thank you for sharing your expertise. I don’t know if you are willing to make a video on attaching the wood properly to the lathe. There are lots of videos that show turning, but not a lot about how you properly attach wood to the lathe.

I thought that you were going to turn a big bowl. I would call that a normal size bowl. Most of the bowls I turn is in that area. I have turned some that were 22”. Here lately I have been turning small bowls ( 3 to4”).
@tomislavtomasicwoodturning18 сағат бұрын
Well I get that but I would never be able to sell over 14inch bowls as I never got orders for it. To Store bowls bigger then 14 inch is also a challenge as we have modest kitchens in sizes, and I'm not the only one ,Richard Raffan sold a really small percentage of his bowls over 12inch. I sell mostly portion sizes or up to 12 inch. But I'm glad that you have the market for big stuff
@BillyWyatt-q2m18 сағат бұрын
@ Really big bowls are hard to sell. Most of the bowls I sell are about 10 to 8”. I just thought you were going to turn a really big bowl.
@matthewwright5716 сағат бұрын
I get people that ask for 'really big bowls' but when I show them a 18"/ 450mm bowl they say 'Not that big'. Most big family / group entertaining salad bowls I can sell are 12-14" with the occasional monster at 16". But most people seem to prefer to store and own a 10-12" 'big bowl' in their house.
