This is a quick guide for how to unlock Barbarian Fishing on Old School Runescape (OSRS) in 2022. This covers both Heavy Rod Fishing and Barehanded fishing, which are unlocked via Otto's Barbarian Training. Heavy Rod Fishing is one of the best experience methods for Fishing in OSRS.

Thank you! The wiki was unclear about wether or not heavy rod fishing required you to go into the mithril dragon dungeon. Did not want to try that on my 18 hp HCIM haha

Yeah, I thought that about the wiki too. Sometimes it isn't worded very well. At least you didn't have to risk your HC status. That dungeon is scary at low combat levels

Yeah, Barb fishing is so much better for xp. Karambwans are better if you're an iron and need some decent food. But for the xp Barb Fishing is great :p

At 65, you should definitely have better rates than 30k per hour 🤔 I don't want to just say you're simply getting unlucky. Because the rates on the wiki say 40k at level 60. I'm gonna think about it and see if I can come up with a reason

It's only possible for Harpoon fishing. So Swordfish, Shark and Tuna. Main reason I went to Karamja is it's an easy teleport with Amulet of Glory, plus there's a diary task

There's no such thing as a dumb question :) It's definitely a Runelite option. It's been a long time since I did it. But I believe the option is called "skybox". If that's not it, I'll see if I can remember or find it

Sorry about the late reply, I missed this one it seems. I use a client called Runelite. As Jom said above, it's a third party client. However, Jagex have said that Runelite is okay to use. Just be careful with anything you download out of the plug in hub, as there may be certain things that trigger Jagex's anti-cheat software

That's strange, did you find the issue? I'm pretty sure it finishes as soon as you catch something barehanded

Mobile OSRS made fishing much less painful, because you can do other things or play other games while just making sure your character is fishing. I did 60-91 while playing Dark 😂 Souls

I'm pretty sure you only unlock Ancient Cavern through Barb Firemaking. Definitely don't start the second part of Barb Firemaking, first part should be fine. I'm pretty certain you're fine tondo Barb Fishing in its entirety without unlocking Ancient Cavern

That's strange, Leaping Salmon requires 58 fishing, 30 Strength and Agility. If youbhave those, I'm not sure why you'd only be getting trout

I use a client called Runelite. Jagex have confirmed that Runelite is okay to be used. At your own risk though, as it is a third-party. I just mostly use the default settings. But Quest Helper is incredibly strong. The majority of players now use the client, since it adds so many quality of life features. With Jagex saying it's okay, it's become more popular than Jagex's own client. But a word of warning, be careful with installing plugins from the plugin hub. While Runelite do try to make sure all their plugins abide by the rules of Runescape, adding new plugins is at your own risk.

You don't have to do anything else after catching something bare-handed, unless you plan on continuing Barbarian Training. Otto has some other unlocks, such as Barbarian Firemaking and Barbarian Smithing. But they are in no way as useful as Barbarian Fishing

Can you right click the fishing spot and click Harpoon? Or does that continue fishing bare-handed? You can also try wielding either a Barb-tailed Harpoon or a Dragon Harpoon. I'd be interested tonfind out if this works for you
