Just did this last night. I was on a sloop with a buddy, and we were determined to get 8 people together for this. We spotted 2 brigs doing a fort of fortune, so we decided to go say hi and ask if they wanted to ally and do Glitterbeard. They agreed, and after finishing the fort and splitting up the loot, we all sailed down to Plunder Valley and stood around the tree at golden hour. It was by far one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen in a game. Absolutely amazing. I think one of the guys I met said it best. When we pulled up to the fort and asked if they wanted to do Glitterbeard, one of the guys there said, “Glitterbeard is worth more than gold.” And he’s absolutely right. That experience was worth more than all the gold in the Sea of Thieves. Rest In Peace, Glitterbeard

I finally did this event , with 8 random people on open crews. A enemy gally rolled in on us , sinking our ships when we were around the tree. Then they found us on the island and soon as they saw what we were doing , they said sorry for sinking us and just stood there peacefully next to us untill we finished the event. 5minutes later all hell broke lose and it turned out in a wild wild west gunfight , we all said gg's and that was the end of our session. Sea of thieves can be a lovely place.. RIP Jimmy.

I only found out about this when people asked me to do it yesterday I had no idea it existed and I was amazed when I saw it and I just had to relive it as it was such a special moment we all ran into each other and formed an alliance from the words I said “WE’RE NOT HERE TO BEAT THE SHIT OUT OF YOU!” and then we all went and did glitterbeard after finishing off our own stuff all hopped onto one ship fought off 3 megs a kraken and a few skelly ships did a fort of fortune where we made more friends and did a fort of the damned what a journey it was and it was beautiful

Here's the thing, I think it's a lovely gesture from the Rare to immortalise their friend in the game the way they have. I think it's awesome and I couldn't be nicer about their attitude towards it... However... *Spoilers* I think it's utterly ridiculous to have to have 8 people (at the very least 2 separate crews) to complete this, I mean I was really looking forward to this, spent all day finding the journals, only to hit a brick wall where I can't progress because I either a) I don't have enough friends to do it together or b) find random crews in SoT that actually give a shit about it or c) go out of my way to find a Discord server where people are doing it, probably on an alliance server which the game doesn't officially condone. I only play with one other person on the regular and very rarely in a brig. Even if I did, the puzzle is so convoluted I would have never have figured it out. Maybe I'm just thick. I think it's such a shame that many people will not be able to experience this heart warming gesture simply because they can't get 8 people together. One guy in the comment section here said that you're 'ruining it' by posting a guide. I think for the vast majority, guides are going to be the only time they do see it. I was really hyped for this, hyped on insider weeks ago, but now I'm feeling like I'll not get a chance to see the inside for myself

My one friend who plays this is rarely ever on, it’s literally impossible for people like me to even experience this for my self. @@topogigio7031 me and my buddies did this last night on a open server. We spent a few hours sailing around asking for people to join and help. By the end we had a Spanish sloop and a German brig. Even took a few failed attempts and goofing around for 20 minutes while we waited for the correct time. Yes it was tough and took some time but once we had all done it we all agreed the journey was worth it and it captures the essence of what the glitter beard campaign set out to achieve. Just give it a go one night. It's well worth the effort.

I tried this today, took hours to get 8 People that were willing to join me in doing it. We followed all the steps, each instrument was where it should have been and we started at the right time. As someone who did play sea of thieves, I love the Glitterbeard Easter egg much like everyone else, it’s heartwarming that the developers made a specific spot for players to find and the music of a vocalised Bewildered is honestly beautiful to listen to and makes any players day for emotion. But when it comes to what you need to do to get it to work and to get the Glitterbeard accessory, I have one two sentence message for it, “FUCK THAT!” You need EIGHT people to get this to work at a specific time at specific points in a specific order to get this to active and hope that you all play as needed or that one of you doesn’t leave or go afk. I can respect SOT for a few things, it’s music, it’s style and design, it’s very puzzle heavy quests and so on. But there are so many problems that made me quit playing SOT, one of them easily is how tedious it is to try and get this Easter egg to work. Especially when most players you encounter are gonna not care and kill you, sink your ship or leave the game. And when you do find some, you have to hope that none of them screws up because if they do, you’ll either have to wait for another golden hour to show up or give up. Long story short, this is one example to why I quit SOT, I want to enjoy the Easter egg but when it’s done in a way of needing to do tedious little things to get it to work, I don’t trust the way the game will work when it comes to doing it. The game is boring and repetitive, there needs to be private servers and the game needs to stop fucking players over with krakens when they hit some form of getting big cash.

I really didn't thought that I would ever get this achievment but I was wrong. Tonight I was doing athena with 2 of my friends on a brigantine. When we met an athena sloop on snake island. After that we met a gold hoarder sloop too so we looked for a last group to get enough people to get the commendation. I've found a brigantine doing a fort and they were about to sink. They were all new players so we helped them get the fort, fixed their ship, asked them to join us to do the achievment. And it was such a really heartwarming experience. I thought it was impossible but we did it , we stood next to the tree for 20 minutes, because we messed up the places the first time. But we managed to figure it out.
