I was wondering how to get you to talk about overbearing, dark, ugly “ river rock” stone fireplace facades, feeling hopeless about mine. And here you are combining wabi sabi principles and practical tips. My favourites. Truly brilliant advice, with perfect timing. I’m so impressed with every video you make. Thank you Julie and team!!

I hate the suggestion of painting those espresso wood cabinets. If you ask me, they are the best part of the Kirchen and give it vintage vibes. The dark green that was suggested looks ugly if you ask me. The main problem of this kitchen is all of the clutter and the lack of window treatments. Remove the ugly bright red rugs. Also the table doesn't fit with the cabinets. I like the suggestion of adding shiny hardware to the kitchen though.

More than anything the spaces in the pictures from the viewers suffer from having way too much stuff on the counters and just overall clutter. Doesn't mater what kind of furniture and or stylings they go for if the spaces are not clutter free. I specially liked the "L" shape rod with the sheer curtain for the corner space. Those curtains will just get rid off all that visual noisy.

Those pork chop builder grade bathroom shelves! Ugh! ....And the big stone fireplace! Double ugh! Until recently, I had that fireplace ..in a corner! It had a full step-up, CARPETED hearth, and was completed with a shiny brass fireplace insert. I wish I had your advice then. Those different beige-tones stones, with huge spaces in between, always reminded me of the Flintstones for some reason!

The second person could also restain the wood on the mantle depending on other wood tones incorporated in their japandi style. Or even go for the full shou sugi ban blackened wood technique directly from Japan. I would then make sure to repeat the darker stained wood or blackened wood/black somewhere else in the room.

How do you go about slightly lightening the big stones on the fireplace? What kind of products would you use? Ours has a mix of beige, rust and a medium charcoal colored stones.
@JulieKhuu
@JulieKhuu Жыл бұрын
Interior paint for masonry Renee. They can color match it just like paint. Try an off-white or warm light gray to start. Layer coats as needed with a nylon brush. You can always add more, but it’s difficult to remove so tread lightly at first

Hey Julie! You struck home with the brass shower door frame. I'm currently not in a place to re do our whole bathroom from its dates 80s look. I'm excited to hear that I could paint that frame. The tub and sink are mauve. What color would you suggest painting the door frame. We currently have dark wood floors and white cabinets. I swapped out a light fixtures and towel rods to mat black and liked it. I'm open to swapping those again if you suggested something different.

So fun to watch your videos! We just bought a FL condo and it’s been a major reno project. There are two sets of sliders that I need to shade from the hot sun yet keep it light and breezy for when it’s shaded. Im thinking of using sunblocking drapes that would pull flat across the windows like a blind, rather than using 3x the window width. These would mostly be closed when we’re not in there. I’m think this approach would minimize the bulk at each end and keep the view, too. They would be UNDERNEATH white sheers that would be 3x the width of the window. What do you think?!
@JulieKhuu
@JulieKhuu Жыл бұрын
Blackout panels usually go OVER the sheers Paula. That way, when it’s layered, the colored panels frame the sheer panels. But up to you 👍🏻
